Assassin’s Creed Unity Shows off Crossbow and Parkour in New Gameplay Trailer

The new Assassin’s Creed Unity game play trailer is very interesting and with the release date of the game set in a couple of weeks, it is no wonder the developers at Ubisoft had already started promoting their title to the full extent.

You should actually check out the trailer first to know what we are talking about because it looks really exciting and has all the elements in it to make it a great game of the new generation of consoles. The visual fidelity is really impressive because the developers have gone all the way to come up with an entirely new engine that brings the Renaissance period to life.

The series is always known for its historically accurate buildings, costume and the setting which has been made perfect this time. The video has a lot of gore in it but it looks like they toned down the bloodshed and killing to some extent so that young players could check out the game without being banned due to age restrictions. However, when they show a man being beheaded on a guillotine and his head falling off his body which is later displayed to the entire crowd, we cannot help but wonder how anyone below 18 would be allowed to play this game. Especially when media claims that games influence players in a wrong way, it is good to keep underage gamers out of this.

A New Protagonist – Arno

Ezio was one of the fan favorite who retained his position as the main protagonist for three different sequels in the franchise. He had the power to retain the interest of the audience while the same cannot be said by the native hero from Assassin’s Creed III which is why they came up with a better one for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. This time, Assassin’s Creed Unity is introducing Arno and if they have infused depth to the character, he might be seen next year as well if Ubisoft decides to extend the franchise even further.

While the single player and co-op campaign is going to feature an entirely new narrative arc, Arno will also retain all the usual Parkour moves such as flipping, diving, and climbing up walls while stabbing people whenever you wish to. He is much more fluid from jumping off one ledge to another and now has the ability to make use of multiple objects in the world to move successfully from one place to another. The trailer revealed these details with a pre-rendered video rather than game play footage but we can assume that the Parkour moves will be more realistic and will allow complete control over your character so that you can move him around easily.

Wrist Crossbow

The new addition that we spotted in the latest Assassin’s Creed Unity trailer is the wrist crossbow which has been added in addition to the signature Assassin’s wrist blades. It might be an interesting new weapon which should facilitate more long range attacks, especially in four player co-op where you can take out the four guards at once without going near them. Developers at Ubisoft added that it won’t be a checklist of events but rather put players in the middle of notable historical moments like the Bastille Day.
