Android 4.5 or 5.0 Lollipop; Features to Expect

It has not been long since Google released the Android 4.4 KitKat, and yet we are already looking at a possible 4.5 or 5.0 version. This latest Android version will be named Android 4.5 Lollipop, which follows Google’s tradition of naming the OS versions in alphabetical order. Lollipop follows Gingerbread, Ice Cream Sandwich and the most recent one KitKat. It was expected that Lollipop would be released towards the end of June, but this did not happen.

What to Expect From Android 4.5 Lollipop

The Design

Android 4.5 is expected to come in a cleaner and flatter design that is almost similar to the design of the iOS 7. The icons come in a colorful, circular and flat design, but it keeps the transparent status bar currently in the KitKat version.

The navigation buttons have minimized appearance that makes the design less cluttered. The icons are derived from the Google online icons as a mock version of the Hera 4.5 Gmail interface version.

Design Changes

Information leaks on the expected 4.5 Lollipop Android version indicate a few changes in the design. For instance, the navigation bar used in Google + now comes in a bright red color as opposed to the usual grey. The background of the menu also comes in a red shade and the screen color changes each time application menus are brought up. Currently, the menu background turns grey as a way of drawing attention to it. The design is also expected to facilitate the onscreen navigation buttons which replace the usual home button. The multitasking button is also expected to come with a few changes.

The Hera Update Integration with HTML 5

The 4.5 update is being referred to as Hera as it focuses on combining Android with Chrome using a chromium build that is expected to run on the Android platform. A major change expected with the 4.4 Android version is the ability to make multitasking windows completely functional. It will be possible to see applications as interactive windows as opposed to the usual static ones. They will be powered by HTML 5. These apps will possess the ability to carry-out actions as opposed to only being present as a screenshot list of open apps.

Interaction Changes

The 4.5 Android OS version will completely change the way you interact with your smartphone in the future. Transitioning from the PC to the smart device will be seamless. This means that it is possible to start a task on your laptop or PC and later finish it on your mobile device on the go. It is also possible to view a Google map on your PC and also access the same map on your mobile device when on the go, without having to search for the address again. These changes effectively mean that the OS will use more power to sustain the operations of this beast of an OS.

Google seems to have a lot in store for the 4.5 Lollipop Android OS. Brace yourself for a totally new Android experience.
