Today we thought we would compare two tablets that come initially with quite a major difference, both being great options when looking for a new smart device to buy. Asus’ Vivo Tab Note 8 comes with a Windows operating system, while Amazon’s Kindle Fire HDX 7 comes bundled with the Android operating system. Keep reading to find out all the other differences between the two and to find out which one would be the best choice for you.

Asus Vivo Tab Note 8

When looking at the Windows 8 based tablets, we can see the Vivo Tab Note 8 standing out of the crowd – seeing how it doesn’t only have the basic features according to market standards, but also shows some extra interesting features: all of this at a very affordable price.

Design & Display

The actual operating system the tablet runs on is the Windows 8.1 OS. The display Asus equipped its tablet with is an IPS LCD model that can render a resolution of 800 x 1280 pixels and that comes with a pixel ratio of 189 ppi. We especially like the Microsoft Office Home and Student features that Asus included on its tablet to support productivity.

Specifications, Camera & Battery

The device is powered by a very nice quad core processor (Intel Atom Z3740, Silvermont) that works at 1860 MHz. The tablet supports 2GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory (if you choose to use a microSD card, you can expand the internal storage). Regarding the camera department, we can see that the Vivo Tab Note 8 comes with a 5MP rear-facing camera and a 1.2MP front-facing camera. As for battery, the tablet is recorded to last up to 8 hours of multimedia play time, all thanks to the 1-cell Lithium battery unit it houses. The writing & drawing experience is a very smooth, natural action, seeing how the tablet comes with over 1000 levels of pressure sensitivity.

Price

You will find this tablet at the price of $229.00.

Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7

We heard that this device has been called several times a best seller, so we just had to choose it for this comparison. The tablet runs on Android 4.2.2, Fire 3.0 UI, which makes it a fierce competition for the Asus device.

Design & Display

The design is very slick, elegant even, coming with a glossy black bezel surrounding the screen. The display measures 7 inches and provides an overall better image: the Kindle Fire HDX 7 provides a pixel density of 323 ppi and a screen resolution of 1920 x 1280 pixels. The device has shock resistant and water proof capabilities.

Specifications, Camera & Battery

We do like the Asus processor, but Amazon impresses with the quad core processor working at 2260 MHz that is housed by the tablet: a Krait 400 which is paired with a Snapdragon 800 chipset from Qualcomm as well as Adreno 330 GPU. We praised Amazon for the choice in processor, but we cannot praise them when it comes to the camera: they chose not to include a front-facing camera, and went only for a 1.3MP rear-facing camera (720p HD video shooting). The device supports 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage capacity. The battery is a Li-Ion model and is estimated to last up to 11 hours.

Price

You will find the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7 tablet at the price of $144.99.
