Temple Run 2 Free Download – Not As Enticing As the Original

The original Temple Run has already clocked in more than 170 million downloads and it is undoubtedly one of the most addictive and successful gameplays on mobile devices.

The sequel to the Temple Run is the Temple Run 2 from Imangi Studios and it seems that the sequel is set to do even better than the original, as it already reached a phenomenal 50 million download number within 13 days of sale. The app is a free one and is more or less similar to the predecessor, but has enough novel or additional features that will ensure its popularity.

Improved Graphics

The most significant aspect of this upgrade to the original Temple Run is the graphics, which have seen a great improvement. The colors are more vibrant and the environments are more detailed, which seems to be more appealing in the midst of a lost city surrounded by a sky setting. The Unity Development engine has been used to build the environment, and the landscape is amazing with its curved roads as well as hills that are seen in the Temple Run 2, instead of the angular terrain seen in the original.

At frequent intervals, you will also see waterfalls along with other attractive scenes, offering a realistic atmosphere to the monotonous setting found in the original Temple Run. Many players, however, feel that the upgraded graphics are good but have been offered at the cost of a reduction in the performance. This is on account of the additional texts that come in, the emails and other notifications that come into the game, causing a lag in the gameplay. Imangi, however, have addressed this problem with their patch fixing the issue.

Upgraded Gameplay

The gameplay has also been enhanced and upgraded with additional zipwire as well as mine cart sections. The player will need to go sliding down the rope ziplines or he may have to jump into mine carts and then make his way through mining tracks that are set deep in the caves.

Controls Continue

The Controls from the original game continue in the same manner in this sequel as well. Players make use of the usual swipe controlling system and can swipe to the left and the right for making turns and make upward and downward swipes for avoiding obstacles and hazards on their way. These could be in the form of statues that breathe fire or rocky outcrops that are placed dangerously on the path. Tilting your mobile device can now control mine carts and it also serves the purpose of picking power ups as well as coins or gems on the way, to increase the currency acquisition.

Use of Coins and Gems

Coins continue to be used as the game currency and can help the player to unlock characters and for increasing or enhancing their abilities. Players have four characters to choose from in the beginning, but these characters are not separated merely on the basis of cosmetic features, as in the original, but also on the basis of the kind of upgrades that they offer. Gems are useful for restarting when your life comes to an end, so that the player can continue from the point at which he was and not return to the beginning of the game. While playing the game, the player can earn coins as well as gems, but gems are more difficult to get, as they are rarer.

Verdict

The competitive features are a little reduced in the Temple Run 2 sequel, as the player can also get high scores by using real money instead of gems, whereas the original gameplay required a lot of perseverance as well as dedication for developing the skills to get high scores.
