The game is all set to be released on SteamOS, which is a Linux-based next-gen console. The announcement has been finally made, putting an end to all the speculation. The game is available for preorders on several consoles, becoming the first in the series to utilize the potential of a highly detailed and dynamic game environment. The Witcher 3 already boasts of larger-than-life graphics. This version of the game will feature a more immersive gameplay, better graphics and a much more complex set of characters. While the studio has already announced release on all next-gen platforms, it has also hinted at bringing the game to Linux so that fans of the open-source OS can also enjoy it. As an OpenGL is very different from DirectX, it would be worthwhile to see how a game like The Witcher 3 holds on this Linux-based OS.

It combines the much coveted architecture of Linux with a larger-than-life gaming experience designed especially for the big screen.
