The successful launch of the Sony Xperia Z1 made the company release its successor in quick time. The Sony Xperia Z1 Compact incorporates similar features as its predecessor. However, the device has been designed to be smaller and more manageable. It supports a 20.7MP rear camera and 2.2MP front camera, 16GB internal memory with 3GB RAM, and 2300mAh battery.
The recently launched Sony Xperia Z2 is a successor to Xperia Z1. The device has been encased in a single-piece aluminium covering. The device encompasses a 20.7MP rear camera and an improved 2.2MP front camera, internal memory of 16GB with 3GB of RAM, and 3,200mAh battery.
Display and Dimensions
The Sony Xperia Z1 Compact is smaller than its predecessors. The dimensions are 127mm x 64.9mm x 9.5mm in length, width, and height respectively. It has been designed to be lighter than other Sony products. It weighs just 137gms. The device incorporates 4.3 inches touchscreen display with a resolution of720x1280 pixels and scratchproof glass.
The Sony Xperia Z2 is bigger than its competitor. The dimensions are 146.8mm x 73.3mm x 8.2mm in length, width, and height respectively. It weighs just 163gms, making it heavier than its competitor. The device has 5.2 inches touchscreen with resolution of1080x1920 pixels for better viewing.
Hardware and Software
The Sony Xperia Z1 Compact is powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core 2.2GHz CPU and Adreno 330 GPU. The device runs on Android OS v4.3 (Jelly Bean) operating system upgradable to v4.4.2 (KitKat).
The Sony Xperia Z2 is powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core 2.3GHz CPU and Adreno 330 GPU. The device runs on Android OS v4.4.2 (KitKat) operating system.
The Sony Xperia Z1 Compact is priced at $434.99; whereas the Sony Xperia Z2 is priced at $639.99.
The Xperia Z1 Compact and Xperia Z2 have fewer differences in features; however, the latter has new generation up-gradations and powerful battery to back it up.
