Samsung Galaxy Tab PRO 8.4 vs iPad Mini 2 vs LG G Pad 8.3 – Specs and Price Comparison

When Apple launched the first iPad Mini, everybody loved this tablet! It was more appreciated than the original iPad and any other Android competitors. But when Samsung released the Galaxy Tab and the Galaxy Note, there were no challengers for these devices. It seems that for Samsung, 2014 is an excellent year. Since December 2013, the company shipped no less than 37 million tablets and the business grew with 400%. But does the Galaxy Tab PRO 8.4 have what it takes to defeat its rivals, the iPad Mini 2 and the LG G Pad 8.3?

Designs

The Mini 2’s exterior is made of aluminum alloy and the display panel is protected by the oleophobic coating. The G Pad 8.3 is also made of aluminum, but the sidings are made of plastic. The Tab PRO 8.4’s back cover is made of polycarbonate and looks like a faux leather.

Displays

The iPad Mini 2 has a Retina display with the sized of 8inches that supports a resolution of 2048x1536pixels and a pixel density of 324ppi.

The G Pad’s 8.3inchs screen renders a resolution of 1920x1200pixels and supports a pixel density of only 274ppi.

The Galaxy Tab PRO 8.4, on the other hand, not only has a HD LCD display which is capable of rendering a resolution of 2560x1600pixels, but the pixel resolution is a lot higher also – 359ppi.

Hardware

The Mini 2 has a 64bit A7 chip which is coupled with 1GB of RAM for a faster speed.

The G Pad is doing very well with its 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600, and it has 2GB of RAM.

The Tab PRO 8.4 is humiliating both of the previous tablets with its 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, although it has also 2GB of RAM.

Software and batteries

The iPad is running on the iOS 7 and you can use the tablet for 10 hours continuously. The Tab PRO runs on the Android KitKat 4.4 OS and comes with the TouchWiz UI. This tablet’s battery has a capacity of 4800mAh, kneeling LG’s tablet which has a battery with a capacity of 4600mAh and which runs on a previous Android version – Jelly Bean 4.2.2.

Cameras

While both of the iPad Mini 2 and the LG G Pad have a 5Mp primary camera and a 1.2Mp secondary camera, the Galaxy Tab PRO 8.4 impresses with its 8MP main shooter and its front camera with 2MP lens.

Prices

The iPad Mini 2 can be found on amazon.com at the price of 360 dollars. The Galaxy Tab PRO 8.4 costs 329 dollars, while the LG G Pad is 280 dollars.
