If you haven’t bought yet the Samsung Galaxy S5, you will surely want it badly after you’ll read something about its specifications. But it has a fierce competitor, the Nokia Lumia 1520, which has a better camera and a battery with a longer lifetime. But which one is worth buying?
Displays and sizes
Phones with large displays offer a great user experience, and the Galaxy S5 is one of the devices that will surely amaze you. IT comes with a 5.1 inches Super AMOLED screen and it renders a resolution of 1080x1920pixels – the same resolution supported by the Lumia 1520’s 6 inches IPS LCD screen.
In terms of dimensions, the Galaxy S5 is lighter, weighting 145grams, because it’s also smaller, measuring 142×72.5×8.1mm, while the Lumia 1250 is extremely heavy, weighting 209grams, but it’s a lot bigger, measuring 162.8×85.4×8.7mm.
Hardware and OS
The Galaxy S5 is very powerful, because it has a superior processor – a quad core krait 400 clocked at 2.5GHz, but it comes also with an advanced chipset – Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801. As for the internal storage, the device comes in two variants – 16 and 32GB, expandable up to 128GB.
The Lumia 1520 has a quad core krait 400 processor clocked at 1.2GHz, and the chipset is Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800. The internal storage is of 32GB, but with a MicroSD card you can expand it up to 64GB.
While the Galaxy S5 is an Android that runs on the KitKat version, other phone is running on Microsoft Windows Phone 8 Black OS with 2GB of RAM, just as the S5.
Cameras
You’ll be satisfied with the pictures taken with the Galaxy S5, which has a primary camera of 16MP (LED flash and phase detection autofocus), and for video calls you can use the secondary camera with a resolution of 2MP. The Lumia 1520 has a more advanced primary camera – 20MP, which has features such as autofocus, optical image stabilization, dual LED flash + Carl Zeiss optics, but the secondary camera is weaker, of 1.2MP.
Batteries
You can talk around 21hours on the Galaxy S5, which is equipped with a Li-Ion 2800mAh battery, but the Lumia 1520’s battery, which is non-replaceable, has a higher capacity – 3400mAh and it allows you to talk 25hours on 3G.
Prices
On amazon.com, you can find the Galaxy S5 4G, LTE version at the price of 675 dollars. The Lumia 1520 4G, LTE version is 185 dollars cheaper.
