Samsung Galaxy S5 vs Nexus 5 – Camera Comparison

These days, mobile phones have evolved a great deal.

They are no longer meant only for the sake of talking to people, because there are diverse uses that a phone can serve. One of the best uses of phones is for clicking brilliant pictures and capturing videos.

When people buy a smartphone, they are likely to measure the camera performance too. Here, we will compare two of the leading models in the market – Nexus 5 and Samsung Galaxy S5, noting the key differences in their camera.

The Camera Specs

If you look at the specifications, you will find the Galaxy S5 to be a much better and smarter choice. While S5 comes with 16 megapixels camera, Nexus 5 offers an 8 megapixels one. Further, the sensor that comes with Samsung Galaxy S5 has a 1/2.6” sensor. The sensor in Nexus 5, on the other hand, has a dimension of 1/3.2”. Galaxy S5 has a sensor which is 28 percent bigger and thereby the output is going to be much better and higher too.

Galaxy S5 comes with its own sensor named the ISOCELL. This sensor is so designed that the light captured by every single pixel, does not leak out and so the pictures are always crisp and clear. It also uses face detection auto focus feature and this makes it easier and quicker to click some of the most wonderful shots.

While it is wrong to write off the camera offered by Nexus 5, there is absolutely no doubt about the fact that Samsung Galaxy S5 seems to be a clear choice among the two.

Video Recording Capabilities

When we are talking about the camera and comparing two models, we need to explore the ease with which videos are recorded and the clarity offered by the same as well.

Once again, the specifications are such that Samsung Galaxy S5 will have an upper hand. It offers 4K ultra HD recording and that too at 30 frames per second. The pixel density is high and stands at 3840 x 2160 pixels. Nexus 5 fails to give you such a high pixel but it offers 1920 x 1080 pixels at 30 frames per second.

The Galaxy S5 can capture 8 million pixels in 4K, but Nexus 5 is able to capture up to 2 million. However, Nexus 5 makes up for all this loss by offering optical image stabilization feature. Samsung Galaxy S5 only has the electronic video stabilization, which means that Nexus 5 will offer you much sharper and clearer videos as the jittery movements will not impact your video quality.

The Final Verdict

There is no doubt that Samsung Galaxy S5 emerges as the clear winner between the two as far as camera comparison is concerned. However, this is not the sole feature to be compared when analyzing the different models. One should diligently examine all details before coming to any judgement regarding which model seems to be the superior one.
