The Xperia Z2 is the winner of this category with its 5.2 inches screen that supports a resolution of 1,080×1,920pixels, the same resolution rendered by the Galaxy S5’s 5.1 inches screen and HTC One M8’s 5 inches screen. The iPhone 5S has a smaller display – 4 inches, and supported resolution is 1,136x640pixels.
The thicknesses of these smartphones are: 0.3 inches – iPhone 5S, 0.32 inches – Galaxy S5 and Xperia Z2, 0.37 inches – HTC One M8.
The weights of the four smartphones are: 0.32lbs – Galaxy S5, 0.35lbs – HTC One M8 and Xperia Z2 and 0.25lbs – iPhone 5S.
Hardware and OS
The Xperia Z2 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 MSM8974AB quad-core Krait 400 processor, clocked at 2.3GHz, and 3GB of RAM.
The Galaxy S5 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.5Ghz, and 2GB of RAM.
The HTC One M8 has a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at a 2.3GHz and 2GB of RAM.
The iPhone 5S has the 1.3GHz dual-core A7 chipset + M7 processor and 1GB of RAM.
The internal memory variants for each smartphone are: 16GB, expandable up to 64GB for the Xperia Z2 and expandable up to 128GB for the Galaxy S5 and the HTC One M8, and 16, 32, 64GB for the iPhone 5S.
The HTC One M8 & the S5 run on the Android 4.4.2 KitKat version, while the Xperia Z2 is running on the Android 4.4 version. The HTC One M8 comes with the Sense 6.0 UI, while the S5 has the TouchWiz UI.
The iPhone 5S runs on the iOS 7.1.
Batteries
The Xperia Z2’s battery has a capacity of 3,200mAh, being a combination with the STAMINA mode.
The HTC One M8 has a battery with the capacity of 2,600mAh, which allows you to talk 20 hours. The S5’s battery has a higher capacity – 2,800mAh, with which you can talk 21 hours on the phone.
The iPhone 5S has only a 1,560mAh battery, which allows you to talk 10 hours.
Cameras
The Xperia Z2 has a 20.7MP primary camera, with features such as LED flash, Exmor RS mobile image sensor, SteadyShot digital image stabilization, Bionz and the possibility to shoot Timeshift videos (120 frames/second). The front camera is of 2.2MP.
The Galaxy S5 has a 16MP primary camera + a 2.1MP secondary camera.
The iPhone 5S has an 8MP primary camera + a 1.2MP secondary camera.
The HTC One M8 has a 5MP front camera and a 4Ultrapixel primary camera.

The Xperia Z2 costs 680 dollars on amazon.com. The iPhone 5S 16GB variant costs 678 dollars, the S5 costs 587 dollars and the HTC One M8 32Gb variant costs 660 dollars.
