Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini vs Sony Xperia M2 – Price and Specs Comparison

Sony Xperia M2 looks a lot like its predecessor, but don’t have high expectations from this phone. It has a good camera and the battery lasts long enough, but it’s too expensive, compared to the Moto G. The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is an alternative for those who want a miniature version of the S4. But we’ll compare these devices to see which one has more advantages and if they are worth their prices.

Displays and designs

Sony Xperia M2 has a large TFT screen with the size of 4.8 inches that renders a resolution of 540×960 pixels. The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini supports the same resolution, but it has a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen.

Sony Xperia M2 is heavy enough, weighting 148 grams, but it’s also bigger, measuring 139.7×71.1×8.6 mm. The Samsung Galaxy S4 weights over 40 grams less, and has these dimensions: 124.6×61.3×8.9 mm.

Operating systems and Hardware 

The Sony Xperia M2 comes with a 1.2 GHz 4core processor cortex A7 and Qualcomm named MSM8226 Snapdragon 400 chipset. It has 8GB memory and can come up to 32 GB with a MicroSD card.

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini comes with a 1.7 GHz 2core processor Krait and Qualcomm chipset named MSM8930 Snapdragon 400. It has 8GB memory and can go up to 64GB with the help of a MicroSD.

Both the devices run on the Android Jelly Bean operating system. The Sony Xperia M2 has 1GB RAM and the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini has 1.5GB RAM.


Bit phones sport the same 8MP first camera (autofocus + LED flash), but Sony Xperia M2 has a VGA secondary camera, while the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini comes with a 1.9 MP secondary camera.


You can talk more than 14 hours and a half on 3G or you can listen to music for 58 hours, on Sony Xperia M2, which has a Li-Ion battery with a capacity of 2300 mAh. The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini’s battery is replaceable, but it has a lower capacity, of 1900 mAh battery, allowing you to talk 12hours on 3G or to listen to music for 49 hours.


The Sony Xperia M2 can be bought from ebay at the price of 300 dollars, while the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini costs 320 dollars.
