Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini vs Samsung Galaxy Core Advance – Pricing and Specifications Compared

Samsung is proving to be one of the top smartphone makers, especially in the mid-range segment.

This is due to the launch of several devices that replicate its flagship products, but come with a much cheaper price tag owing to the lack of certain features. One of the best examples of this philosophy is the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini. This phone is a like-for-like replica of the flagship Galaxy S4 – which is proving to be one of the top-selling phones in the high-end segment, but for certain absence of features.

The Galaxy Core Advance is a grown-up version of the recent dual SIM smartphones from the category.

Design

The Galaxy S4 Mini is one of the lightest phones in the market at just over 100 g. This weight saving has largely been achieved with the use of lightweight materials and also because the phone sacrifices some of the bulk of the flagship model. This has largely been achieved by the reduced display size, which is now just 4.3 inches. The Galaxy Core Advance is substantially heavier in this regard because it tips the scale at 140 g. Still, it is very competitive in the industry and buyers will have little reason to complain about this aspect.

Screen

The Galaxy Core Advance is not only heavier but it also features a slightly larger display. The 4.7 inch unit comes in with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels, which was seen in the smartphones of several years ago, but it is more than good enough to do the job. The Galaxy S4 Mini features a resolution that is close to 720p. This enables the phone to provide around 250 PPI of pixel density. The Galaxy S4 Mini does well to protect its display by using a gorilla glass screen whereas the Galaxy Core Advance needs to be handled with care because it does not come with such options.

Speed

The Galaxy Core Advance will be positioned as a phone that will provide android operating system to the masses. Despite this, the phone is set to come with a powerful hardware at its heart. The dual core 1.2 GHz processor is only slightly less powerful than the 1.7 GHz dual core units on the Galaxy S4 Mini. Since it comes with 1 GB of RAM, it should be able to run multiple applications at once without much trouble. Being a slightly pricier device, the Galaxy S4 Mini features 1.5 GB RAM.

Camera

The camera is also another separating aspect between the Galaxy S4 Mini and the Galaxy Core Advance. The eight megapixel camera on the former is not only much superior in terms of quality, but also in terms of features. It comes with a range of options like LED flash, panorama, full HD video recording, and HDR support.

With prices around the $320 mark for the Galaxy S4 Mini, it is a tiny bit pricier than the Galaxy Core Advance, which comes in at around $290.
