Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini vs Samsung Galaxy Core Advance – Comparison of Pricing and Specifications

The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini is a phone that looks to take advantage of the success of its bigger counterpart.

It brings most of the high-end features to this segment and one of the key areas where it has sacrificed is in its display. In comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Core Advance is a device that has been in the market only for a few weeks since it was announced in December 2013. It promises to improve the Galaxy Core, which has been one of Samsung’s best-selling models in the midrange segment.

Design

The Galaxy S4 Mini is comparatively older than the Samsung Galaxy Core Advance – having been launched in June 2013. One of the major sacrifices comes about in the display where a 4.3 inch display is used instead of a 5 inch one. The Galaxy Core Advance comes with a 4.7 inch display that tries to provide a balance between the smaller Galaxy S4 Mini and the Galaxy S4. The phone, however, does not provide the best resolution that has been offered by the likes of the Galaxy S4, as it comes with only 480 x 800 pixels. This is substantially lower than the 540 x 960 pixel resolution of the Galaxy S4 Mini. It also lacks in the technology aspects like the Super AMOLED used on the Galaxy S4 Mini. However, users will be able to appreciate the much larger display, which helps it handle multimedia in a better way.

Camera

The two phones are also capable of creating multimedia content on their phone using the eight megapixel camera in the case of the Galaxy S4 Mini and the five megapixel unit of the Galaxy Core Advance. Being a much superior camera in terms of megapixel count alone does not do enough for the Galaxy S4 Mini, as it offers features like full HD video recording, face detection, panorama, LED flash, and others. In comparison, the camera on the Galaxy Core Advance lacks those features, but it comes with LED flash and touch focus.

The front facing VGA camera is also substantially overshadowed by the 1.9 megapixel unit on the Galaxy S4 Mini.

Speed

Being a device that runs on a dual core 1.7 GHz processor, the Galaxy S4 Mini has received substantial updates to the initial android 4.2 operating system. It now runs on the 4.4 version. Despite being a newcomer to the smartphone segment, the Galaxy Core Advance uses the 4.2 version, which may be seen as a disappointment by some. The phone comes with a dual core 1.2 GHz processor, while the RAM is also lower in comparison with the Galaxy S4 Mini at 1 GB.

Battery

There is little to separate the two phones in terms of battery. The Galaxy S4 Mini is powered by a 1900 mAh battery, while the Galaxy Core Advance uses a 2000 mAh battery. The slightly larger display of the Galaxy Core Advance is likely to affect its battery life.

The pricing of the Galaxy Core Advance is yet to be revealed while the Galaxy S4 Mini costs around $320.
