Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs Motorola Moto X – Specs and Price Comparison

If you have been trying to make a decision between Motorola’s Moto X and Samsung’s Galay Note 3, here’s a comparison between the two devices to help you figure out which one is the better choice for you.

Display and Design

The display we see featured on Samsung’s phablet is a Super AMOLED measuring 5.7 inches. The resolution this touch screen display is of 1080 x 1920 pixels. This device weighs 168 g and it presents itself with the following dimensions: 151.2 x 79.2 x 8.3 mm.

Motorola equipped its smartphone with an AMOLED display that has 4.7 inches. The resolution, of 720 x 1280 pixels, is inferior to that seen on the Galaxy Note 3. This device is naturally smaller (dimensions: 129.3 x 65.3 x 10.4 mm) and lighter (weight: 130g).

Hardware and Operating System

Samsung equipped its phablet with a Krait 400 processor which is a quad core clocked at 2.3 GHz and a Snapdragon 800 chipset from Qualcomm. The Galaxy Note 3 supports 3GB of RAM and multiple options of internal storage: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB (if you choose to use a microSD card, you can expand the memory up to 64GB). The operating system for this device is the Android Jelly Bean (upgradable to Android KitKat).

The processor that powers the Motorola Moto X is a Krait: dual core clocked at 1.7 GHz. The chipset that comes along is a Snapdragon MSM8960Pro from Qualcomm. This smartphone supports 2GB of RAM and two variants of internal storage: 16GB and 32GB (there is no microSD slot, so the memory is not expandable). Same as the Samsung, the Motorola runs on Android Jelly Bean, which is upgradable to Android KitKat.

Camera

While both devices are pretty good in the camera department, if you’re looking for the better features, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has them. The rear-facing camera on the phablet has 13MP (autofocus + LED flash). As for the Moto X, it has a 10MP rear-facing camera (autofocus + LED flash).

Both devices show off a 2MP front-facing camera.

Battery

The Li-Ion 3200 mAh battery unit that we see featured on the Note 3 helps the device last around 21 hours of talking time (3G).

The Li-Ion 2200 mAh battery unit we see featured on the Moto X is estimated to last around 13 hours of talking time.
