Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs HTC One Max vs Sony Xperia Z Ultra – Price and Specs Comparison

In this article we’ll compare three phablets from Sony, Samsung and HTC, which were released last year. With One Max, the South Korean tech giant made its official debut in the phablet market, but does it have what it takes to “defeat’ its rivals’ similar products? We’ll compare all the three devices, to see which one is better.

Displays

Sony Xperia Z Ultra has the biggest screen, which has the size of 6.44 inches and can support up to 342 ppi. The Galaxy Note 3 has a higher pixel density of 386 ppi, but it has the smallest display, between the three phablets, being of 5.7 inches. The HTC One Max, on the other hand, has a 5.9inch Full HD HD and supports 367ppi.

Hardware and operating systems

HTC One Max is powered by a 1.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor and has 2GB of RAM. The device comes with two variants of internal memories: 16 GB and 32 GB, which can be expanded by up to 64 GB.

The other two phablets come with an upgraded Snapdragon 800 chip, but the Galaxy Note 3’s processor is clocked at 2.2 GHz and has 3 GB of RAM, while the Xperia Z Ultra’s processor is clocked at 2.3 GHz. Both tablets come in two variants of internal storage: 16GB and 32GB, also expandable by up to 64GB.

All three phablets are Androids. The HTC One Max runs on the 4.3 version with Sense 5.5, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 also runs on this version, but with Samsung’s TouchWiz. The Sony Xperia Z Ultra runs on a previous version, 4.2, but with Sony’s TimeScape.

Cameras

HTC One Max is equipped with an UltraPixel camera that has options like Always Smile, Sequence Shot and Object removal. There is also another 2.1 MP secondary camera on the device.

The Galaxy Note 3 has a 13 MP primary camera and a 2MP secondary camera. Some of the options that this device comes with: Drama, Beauty Face and Best Photo.

The Xperia Z Ultra has an 8 MP primary camera with the Exmore RS sensor. Like the other two phablets, this one can record Full HD videos.

Batteries

You can talk 25 hours on 3G on the HTC One Max, which comes with a 3,300mAh battery. Next in line is the Samsung Note 3 with its 3,200mAh battery that allows you to talk 21 hours on 3G. The Sony Xperia Z Ultra has a battery with a capacity of 3,000mAh, which allows you to talk only 16 hours.

Prices

The HTC One Max 32 GB variant costs on amazon.com 500 dollars. The Samsung Note 3 32 GB variant costs around 550 dollars, while the Sony Xperia Z Ultra is the cheapest, costing only 417 dollars.
