Samsung Galaxy Note 2 vs Galaxy Note 3 vs Galaxy Note 3 Neo – Specs and price

In this article we’ll compare three generations of Note smartphones – starting with Note 2, which was released in 2012 and made a nice impression, continuing with the Note 3, which came with a larger screen and an improved S Pen stylus, and the Note 3 Neo, an affordable variation of its predecessor. We’ll compare these three phones to see how similar or different they are.

Displays

The Note 2 and the Note 3 Neo have displays of the same size – 5.5inches, supporting the same resolution of 720x1280pixels. The Note 3’s display is larger – 5.7inches, which makes it a little giant. Its resolution is also higher, 1080x1920pixels and it’s easily noticeable that the viewing experience is pleasant to the eye.

Sizes

The Galaxy Note 2 is thicker than both of the other models, having a thickness of 9.40mm, being followed by the Note 3 Neo with its thickness of 8.60mm and on the third place we find the Note 3 with the thickness of 8.30mm.

The Note 2 and the Note 3 have almost the same height and width, their dimensions being 151.10×80.50mm, respectively 151.20 x 79.20mm, while the Note 3 Neo is slightly smaller, measuring 148.40×77.40mm. But it’s also lighter, weighting 162.50grams, being followed by the Note 3, which weights 168grams, while the Note 2 is a lot heavier, weighting 183grams.

Hardware and OS

The Note 2 is powered by a 1.6GHz quad-core Exynos 4412 processor (Mali-400MP4) and has 2GB of RAM. The Note 3 has a 1.9GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor (Adreno 330) and 3GB of RAM, while the Note 3 Neo comes with a 1.7GHz quad-core Exynos 5260 (Mali-T624), coupled with 2GB of RAM. The Note 3 is more superior in terms of hardware, while the Note 3 is the “weakest link”.

All of these three smartphones run on the Android platform. The Note 2 and the Note 3 run on the 4.4 KitKat version, while the Note 3 Neo runs on the 4.3 Jelly Bean.

Memories

The Note 2 and the Note 3 Neo have 16GB of internal memory – expandable up to 64GB, while the Note 3 comes with 32GB of internal storage, and this is also expandable up to 64GB.

Cameras

The Note 2 and the Note 3 Neo have a primary camera with the resolution of 8MP, but the Note 2’s front camera is of 2.9MP, while the Note 3 Neo has a secondary camera of 2MP, similar to Note 3’s front camera. But this phone has a better primary camera – 13MP.
