Flappy Bird is a smartphone single player game that was developed in Vietnam by developer Dong Nyugen using 2D retro style graphics.
The game was developed over a span of two to three days with the intention of making simple games for people who are always on the move. Although the game was released in mid 2013, it rose to fame by early 2014. By the end of the first quarter in 2014, this app was listed among the top downloaded game on the iOS app store. Soon afterwards, it was also made available on the Google Play Store. What makes the Flappy Bird game all the more appealing is that it is absolutely free.
How to Play Flappy Bird?
True to its name, the aim of the Flappy Bird game is to make your bird flap its wings and fly as high as it can. As it flies higher and higher, you must make the bird pass in between two parallel pipes without colliding or banging on them. To make your bird rise high, you must tap your screen continuously. If you do not tap your screen, the bird will fall down. The distance between the pipes is the same irrespective of the height the bird is at. For each pipe set that the bird passes through successfully, you are awarded medals. The game ends only when the bird hits a pipe. Your score for the Flappy Bird game is calculated based on the number of pipe sets it passes through successfully.
Tips to Win the Game
One of the foremost things to remember when you play Flappy Bird is to keep yourself relaxed throughout the game. Just go with the flow and you will soon find yourself becoming a pro. If you think you are beginning to feel stressed out, then it is advisable to take a break and resume the game after the break. Try not to allow your bird to dip, instead focus on helping it to rise up. Consider playing the Flappy Bird game on a smartphone with a large screen. Silly as it sounds, this tip can actually be helpful because your finger tends to cover the whole screen if it is a small one. Work your way towards winning bronze, silver and gold medals with 10, 20 and 30 points respectively. Make sure your fingers are quick and make light taps with rapid movements when you play the game.
Discontinuation
Even as Flappy Bird was turning out to be one of the top rated apps in terms of popularity, its developer announced his decision to remove the game from smartphones. The reason cited was that while the game was developed for relaxation, it was actually turning out to be quite addictive. However, soon online variations of the Flappy Bird game came into existence to avoid disappointment for its fans. Also, soon after the game was pulled down, there were reports of some other imitation versions of the game available on the app stores. However, they were said to be infected by malware. Additionally, reputed online stores were claimed to be selling smartphones containing the original app at an exorbitant price.
Fortunately for Flappy Bird lovers, the good news is that Flappy Bird is likely to hit the app stores once again in August as a multiplayer game. Players can have more fun competing with others in real time.
