The Nokia Lumia 930 and the 1520 are two of the latest high-end smartphones. Though the marketing of smartphones under the Nokia brand has now come to an end, it will be some time before the Microsoft Mobiles start coming in. Both the phones look quite different, but they have many common features between them.
The Lumia 1520 is considered one of the most sophisticated Windows Phones from Nokia. Both the phones offer top end specifications, in a different design. The Lumia 920 can be bought for around $400 to $600, whereas the Lumia1520 comes at around $750.
Display, Design, Dimensions
The Nokia Lumia 1520 has a 6 inch display screen and can also be termed as a phablet. On the other hand, the Lumia 930 is smaller though the screen size is quite big at 5 inches. The Lumia can in no way be termed as a smaller version of the 1520, as they have a different design as well as other differences.
The Lumia 1520 weighs 209 g and is quite light, whereas the Lumia 930 weighs 167 g, which is quite heavy for the size. It does give a sturdy feel though. As for the display, the Lumia 1520 comes with an IPS LCD screen technology, whereas the Lumia 930 comes with an AMOLED screen display.
Both the devices offer a high definition resolution of 1920 x 1080p. However, the pixel density of the Lumia 930 is much higher at 441ppi, compared to the 367ppi of the Lumia 1520. Both the screens offer excellent quality and are very sharp.
As far as content is concerned, both devices show the same content on the screen, in differing sizes. The colors on the Lumia 930 are a little brighter. The 930 comes with the 3rd generation Corning Gorilla Glass.
Features Lacking in 930
Another aspect of the display is that the Nokia Lumia 930 does not offer support for the Glance technology. This technology allows the user to keep track of certain relevant information even without unlocking the device.
This is because the Lumia 930 uses a kind of AMOLED screen that does not have display memory. Another feature missing in the Lumia 930 is the double tap for waking the phone.
The Lumia 1520 is a bigger device and comes with a higher battery capacity of 3400 mAh, compared to the 2400 mAh of the Lumia 930. However, the larger display of the Lumia 1520 also ends up using more battery energy.
The Lumia 930 has an internal memory of 32GB, whereas the Lumia 1520 has an internal memory of both 16GB and 32GB. However, the Lumia 930 does not have a microSD card slot, so the memory cannot be expanded, whereas the Lumia 1520 has an expandable storage up to a maximum of 64 GB.
The Lumia 1520 is one of the first phones coming with the Qualcomm MSM8974 800 processor. It is a Quad core processor Krait 400 clocking at 2.2 GHz. The Lumia 930 also has the same processor and it works very fast and smoothly with Windows Phone.
The camera on both these devices is of great importance in Lumia smartphones, especially the high end ones. The sensor on the both the devices is the same, although it seems smaller on the Lumia 930. The resolution of the camera for both the devices is 20 MP and the sensor is 1/2.5 inches in both the cases. The pixel size is also the same at 1.12. Both the devices offer features of OIS or optical image stabilization. They also offer a dual LED flash.
There are many similarities in the specs, but if you would like a stronger battery and a microSD card slot, you can opt for the 1520 device. It also has a larger display and this is useful for working with MS Office applications and reading web content, watching YouTube etc.
