Nexus 4 vs Sony Xperia Z1 Compact – Specs and Price Comparison

Sony has done an excellent job with the Xperia Z1 Compact, a phone which is water-dust resistant, and which comes with other great features. Its camera is better, its battery has a longer battery life, but don’t expect to come with a cheap price. The Nexus 4 isn’t a spectacular phone, but it’s not mediocre either. It has a good resolution, a decent camera, a powerful processor and an affordable price. It’s much more cheaper than the Xperia Z1 Compact.

Displays and sizes

The Xperia Z1 Compact is a medium-sized smartphone with high-end specifications, and you’ll be very pleased of its 4.3 inches IPS LCD display that can support a resolution of 720x1280pixels, but you’d like the Nexus 7 even more because of its 4.7 inches True HD IPS Plus display that supports a slightly higher resolution – 768x1280pixels.

These devices are not extremely heavy, weighting 137grams – the Xperia Z1 Compact, respectively 139grams – the Nexus 7. The first phone measures 127×64.9×9.5mm, while the other device has these sizes: 133.9×68.7×9.1mm.

Hardware and OS

In terms of hardware, the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact is pretty advanced, coming with a quad core krait 400 processor clocked at 2.2GHz + Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 chipset and one variant of internal storage of 16GB, which is expandable up to 64GB.

The Nexus 4, on the other hand, has a quad core krait processor clocked at 1.5GHz + Qualcomm APQ8064 Snapdragon chipset and two variants of internal storage: 8 and 16GB, which aren’t expandable.

These phones run on the Android platform, Jelly Bean version which is upgradeable to the KitKat version, and they both have 2GB of RAM.

Cameras

The Xperia Z1 Compact has an impressive 20.7MP primary camera (LED flash and autofocus) and a 2MP secondary camera. The Nexus 4 has only an 8MP rear camera with similar features, and a 1.3MP front camera.

Batteries

You can talk 18 hours, on 3G, on the Xperia Z1, which has a non-removable Li-Ion battery with a capacity of 2300mAh. The Nexus 4 has also a non-removable battery, but it’s Li-Po and has a capacity of 2100mAh, which allows you to talk almost 15 hours, on 3G.

Prices

The Xperia Z1 Compact can be bought from amazon.com at the price of 450 dollars. The Nexus 4 8GB variant costs only 280 dollars.
