Motorola Moto G vs Moto X – Specs and Price Comparison

The Moto G made a good impression in 2013, when it was released. Its priced dropped gradually and became a budget phone that offers high performance. The Moto X was also released in 2013, but a few months later. It has a better camera, a better battery and a higher price. The main drawback of these devices is that they come with unexpandables internal memories, while the Moto G’s battery is non-removable. So, take good care of it, don’t leave it plugged in all night!

Displays and sizes

Today, we chose to compare two smartphones with 720x1280pixels displays, but which are of different sizes. The Moto G’s IPS LCD screen is of 4.5inches, while Moto X’s AMOLED screen has a bigger size – 4.7inches.

In terms of dimensions, we can say that the Moto G is slightly bigger, measuring 129.9×65.9×11.6mm and it weights 143grams. Its sibling, the Moto X is 13grams lighter and it measures 129.3×65.3×10.4mm.

Hardware and OS

The Moto G has two variants of internal memories – 8 and 16GB, which can’t be expanded, and it’s powered by a 1.2GHz quad core cortex A7 processor which teams up with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset.

The Moto X’s processor is superior – 1.7GHz dual core krait processor, while the chipset is Qualcomm MSM8960Pro Snapdragon. As for the internal storage – there are two available variants – 16 and 32GB which are also unexpandable.

Both of these smartphones run on the Android Jelly Bean OS, which is upgradeable to the KitKat version. The difference is that the Moto G has 1GB of RAM, while the Moto X has an extra GB of RAM.

Cameras

The Moto G has a decent 5MP primary camera (LED flash and autofocus) and the secondary camera is 1.3MP. The Moto X stands out with its 10MP primary camera – with similar features, while the secondary camera is 2MP.

Batteries

The Moto G’s battery is non-removable and has the capacity of 2070mAh, while its sibling has a longer lasting battery because it has the capacity of 2200mAh, and it’s removable.

Prices

The Moto G 8GB variant costs 178 dollars on amazon.com, while the 16GB variant costs 195 dollars. On the other hand, the Moto X 16GB variant can be purchased at the price of 309 dollars.
