Motorola Moto G vs iPhone 5S – Specs and Price Comparison

If you have been eyeing both the Motorola Moto G and the iPhone 5S, here’s a comparison to see which option would be the best fit for you: the cheaper smartphone from Motorola or the pricier one from Apple.

Display and Design

Motorola equipped its device with an IPS LCD display measuring 4.5 inches that can render a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The smartphone weighs 143 g and it presents itself with the following dimensions: 129.9 x 65.9 x 11.6 mm.

Apple equipped its device with an IPS LCD LED-backlit display measuring 4 inches that renders a lesser resolution of 640 x 1136 pixels. This smartphone is lighter, weighing 112 g, and also smaller (dimensions: 123.8 x 58.6 x 7.6 mm).

Hardware and Operating System

The processor that powers the Moto G is the Cortex A7: a quad-core clocked at 1.2 GHz. The chipset that comes along is a Snapdragon 400 from Qualcomm. Regarding the rear-facing camera, the Moto G has a 5MP camera (LED flash + autofocus), while the iPhone 5S has an 8MP camera (dual LED flash + autofocus).

Regarding the front-facing camera, we observe a 1.3MP camera on the Motorola Moto G and a 1.2MP camera on the iPhone 5S.

Battery

If you are always on your phone, you might be looking for a smartphone that has have a long lasting battery. Between the two we’re reviewing, the Motorola Moto G has a longer lasting battery unit: a Li-Ion 2070 mAh model that can last up to 24 hours of talking time.

The iPhone 5S sports a Li-Po 1560 mAh battery unit that can last around 10 hours of talking time (3G).

Both batteries are non-removable.

If you are on a budget, the Motorola Moto G is a great low-priced smartphone with quite enough features: the 16 GB variant has the price of $199.99.

If you’re looking for a high-end type of smartphone, then the iPhone 5S from Apple is the device for you, the 16 GB variant costing $499.99.
