Today, we’re going to compare two “brothers” from LG – the G2 and the G2 Mini, and very powerful phone from Sony – the Xperia Z1 Compact. The last one stands out with its superior primary camera, but it’s defeated by the G2 in terms of hardware and battery. These phones aren’t cheap, but you won’t feel disappointed of the product you’ll buy.
Displays and sizes
The G2 Mini supports a decent resolution – 540x960pixels on its 4.7 inches IPS LCD screen. Its bigger brother renders a much higher resolution – 1080x1920pixels, being helped by its 5.2 inches True HD-IPS + LCD screen. The Xperia Z1 Compact’s display is a lot smaller – 4.3 inches, and it’s an IPS LCD screen that renders an excellent resolution – 720x1280pixels, a lot higher compared to other phones of its size.
The dimensions and weights of every smartphone are very different: the G2 Mini is measuring 129.6x66x9.8mm and it weights 121grams. The G2 is 22 grams heavier and it measures 138.5×70.9×8.9mm, while the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact is the heaviest phone between them, weighting 137grams, while it measures 127×64.9×9.5mm.
Hardware and OS
The G2 Mini is powered by a quad core cortex A7 processor (clocked at 1.2GHz) and has a Qualcomm MSM8226 Snapdragon 400 chipset.
The G2 comes with a quad core krait 400 processor (clocked at 2.26 GHz) and a Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 chipset.
The Xperia Z1 Compact has a slightly more inferior quad core krait 400 processor (which is clocked at 2.2GHz), and has the same chipset as the G2.
The internal memories of every smarthpne are: 8GB – expandable up to 32GB (G2 Mini), 16 and 32GB – unexpandable (G2) and 16GB – expandable up to 64GB (Xperia Z1 Compact).
All of these three smartphones run on the Android platform. The G2 Mini comes loaded with the KitKat version and it has 1GB of RAM, while the LG G2 and the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact have 2GB of RAM and run on the Jelly Bean version.
The G2 Mini has a weaker primary camera, if we compare this phone with the G2 and the Xperia Z1 Compact. So, the 8MP back camera has features such as LED Flash and autofocus, but it also comes with a 1.3MP front camera. The G2 has a better primary camera – 13Mp, which has an extra feature: optical image stabilization. The secondary camera is of 2.1MP. The Xperia Z1 Compact definitely wins this category with its 20.7MP primary camera (LED flash and autofocus), while the secondary camera is of 2MP.
The G2 Mini’s battery has a capacity of 2440mAh. The G2 and the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact have non-removable batteries, but the G2 lasts longer, because it has a capacity of 3000mAh, while the other phone’s battery has a capacity of only 2300mAh.
The price of the G2 Mini costs 350 dollars on different websites. The G2 can be found on amazon.com at the price of 402 dollars, while the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact costs 435 dollars.
