Apple iPad Air vs HP SlateBook x2 – Price and Specs Comparison

The Apple iPad Air reached the market in Q3 2013, the company being praised for equipping this device with a Retina display, that offers a better viewing experience. The other tablet was released earlier, in May, and had both positive reviews and complaints, but it’s because the gadget is heavy, having a keyboard that can be attached to it. These tablets have in common options like WiFi, Bluetooth and a USB 2.0 port, and the iPad Air is the only one that can support TV-Out, whereas the HP SlateBook x2 can support HDMI. The shades of the Pad Air are gray and silver, while the HP SlateBook x2 is white.

Displays and Dimensions

With a high resolution of 2,048×1,536 pixels, the iPad Air manages to rise to a high standard with its 9.7-inch screen. The HP SlateBookx2’s 10.1-inch screen supports a lower resolution – 1,920 x 1,200 pixels.

The iPad Air is smaller than the HP SlateBook x2, measuring 9.45×6.67×0.30 inches and weighting 478 grams. The other device’s dimensions are: 11.22×8.35×0.8 inches, but it’s very, very heavy – 1400 grams, but it has a keyboard that is detachable.

Hardware and OS

The iPad Air is equipped with an Apple A7 1.4 GHz dual-core Cyclone (64-bit) processor, and has 1GB of RAM, while the HP’s device has a better processor – a 1.8 GHz A15 quad-core Nvidia Tegra 4 ARM Cortex, and has 2GB of RAM.

When it was launched, the iPad Air came loaded with iOS 7, but when the iOS 7.1.1 update was release, the users were able to upgrade their devices to the new version. The HP SlateBook x2, on the other hand, is an Android and it runs on the 4.2 Jelly Bean version.

As for the internal storage, the iPad Air has four variants: from 16GB to 128GB, unexpandable. The HP SlateBook x2 offers only two options: 16GB and 64GB, and the first variant is expandable by up to 64GB.

Cameras

The iPad Air has a better primary camera – of 5MP, and it has another front camera of 1.2MP. The HP SlateBook x2 has a 2MP primary camera and a 720p secondary camera.

Batteries

The Apple iPad Air’s battery is irreplaceable and has a capacity of 8820 mAh. The HP SlateBook x2 is equipped with a Li-Ion polymer battery that has 2 cells.

Prices

On amazon.com, the price of the Apple iPad Air 64GB, WiFi option is 665 dollars. The HP SlateBook x2 64GB Wifi costs 400 dollars.
