The Xperia Z2 is barely a couple of months old after being launched, as the replacement for the Xperia Z1, but it seems that the Japanese giant is already preparing to launch its successor. The Sony Xperia Z3 could be coming into the market in months rather than years. According to several rumors, it is believed that the Xperia Z3 may be launched as early as in August or September. This is because Sony believed that the addition of new features into the Xperia flagship is much needed to counter-attack the threat from the iPhone 6.
The Xperia Z2 was a slight letdown in terms of design because it made no significant changes from the previous generation device, but this is all set to change with the Xperia Z3. It is widely rumored that, based on the leaked images, that the Xperia Z3 will be a much thinner device than the current generation flagship devices Sony. It will also be significantly lighter as well. Due to the presence of water and dust resistant features in the phone, the Xperia phones have always been thicker than their rivals have. This could change with the Xperia Z3.
It is heavily speculated that the Xperia Z3 will come with a much more powerful version of the snapdragon processor. The Xperia Z2 right now features a 2.3 GHz quad core processor, which is one of the fastest available today. Yet, the Xperia Z3 is set to improve this feature even more by providing a 2.5 GHz unit. This will come from the snapdragon 801 range, which have proven to be the most reliable in the industry right now. The biggest difference between the current models and the upcoming device is the presence of 3 GB of RAM, which is more than that of the rivals like Samsung and HTC.
This is one aspect that could feature almost no changes in the Xperia Z3 since the latest generation phones already came with one of the best in the industry – a 20.7 megapixel unit. This will come with a lot of high-end features including 4K recording, which made its debut in the Xperia Z2.
In what will be seen as a disappointment by many, Sony is not expected to feature the QHD display in the Xperia Z3. The rumor stated that the device could come with the same full HD display that has been doing its job in several high-end phones of late. The launch of Samsung phones featuring the QHD display does not appear to have made any difference with regard to Sony’s market strategy. One may have to wait a little longer in order to get the device with this display technology, which would bump up the current pixel density to close to 600 PPI.
The Xperia Z3 should have come about only in February 2015 at the MWC in Barcelona, but it seems that the much-anticipated launch of the iPhone 6 in a few months has altered the strategy of Sony and the device is priced at around $ 700.
