One of the biggest advantages of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 is its large display and the bright colors that make your pictures and videos pleasing to your eyes. The iPad Mini has almost the same size as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3, and both tablets’ screens offer an “ok” resolution. Not spectacular, but acceptable. We’ll compare the two devices to see which one is better.
Displays and designs
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 has an 8 inch TFT capacitive touch screen, with a resolution of 800×1280 pixels resolution. It’s not a huge difference between both tablets’ displays. The iPad Mini has a 7.9 inch LED-backlit IPS LCD capacitive touch screen and its resolution is 768x 024 pixels.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 weights 314 grams and measures 209.8×123.8×7.4 mm, while the iPad Mini weights 8 grams more and it has these dimensions: 200×134.7×7.2 mm.
Hardware and operating systems
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 comes with a 1.5 GHz dual core processor + Exynos 4212 chipset, and there are two variants of internal memories 16 GB and 32 GB from which you can choose. And you can expand them by up to 64 GB.
The iPad Mini has a 1 GHz dual core cortex A9 processor + Apple A5 chipset, and three variants of internal memories: 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB, but you can’t expand them.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 is an Android tablet, running on the Jelly Bean o.s. with 1.5 GB of RAM. The iPad Mini has only 512 MB of RAM and it runs on the iOS 6 o.s., which is upgradeable to the iOS 7 version.
Both tablets have a 5 MP primary camera (autofocus, face detection, geo-tagging and touch focus), but the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 has a 1.3 MP secondary camera, while the iPad Mini’s secondary camera is of 1.2 MP.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 has an internal battery, a Li-Ion 4450 mAh battery, while the iPad Mini is equipped also with a non-removable 16.3 Wh Li-Po battery.
On amazon.com, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 16 GB variant (WI-FI included) costs 239 dollars, and the 32 GB variant costs around 300 dollars. The iPad Mini 16 GB variant costs 293 dollars, the 32 GB variant = 349 dollars and the 64 GB variant = 390 dollars.
