The bigger, the better – this would sound like Samsung’s motto, if we’re referring to the Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 and its “rival”, the Galaxy Note 10.1. Both tablets have displays of the same size, but they support different resolutions. The second tablet has a more advanced camera, and it’s obviously more expensive, and it’s going to be hard to decide which one is better, but we’ll compare both devices in terms of specifications.
Displays and designs
As we were mentioning in the introduction, both tablets come with a 10.1-inch display, only that Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 has a TFT capacitive touch screen that renders a resolution of 1,280×800 pixels, while the Galaxy Note 10.1 is equipped with a Super clear LCD capacitive touch screen that renders a double resolution – 2,560×1,600 pixels
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 is lighter than the Galaxy Note 10.1 because it measures 510 grams, while the other is weighting 30 grams more. The size difference is almost unnoticeable, because the first tablet is measuring: 243.1×176.1×8 mm, while the second tablet comes with these dimensions: 243.1×171.4×7.9 mm.
Hardware and operating systems
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 is powered by a 1.6 GHz dual-core processor and it has an Intel Atom Z2560 chipset. There are two available variants of internal memories: 16 and 32 GB, which are expendable by up to 64 GB.
On the other hand, the Galaxy Note 10.1’s “heart” is a 2.3 GHz quad-core Krait 400 processor, the device coming equipped also with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset. There are three variants of internal memories you can choose from: 16GB and 32GB – expandable to 64 GB, and a 64GB variant.
Both are Android tablets, but the first tablet comes with only 1 GB of RAM, while the other one has 3 GB of RAM.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 has a 3.15 MP primary camera with which you ca take modest pictures. The tablet has also a 1.3 MP secondary camera. But if you want good quality pictures, you should choose the Galaxy Note 10.1, because it has an 8 MP primary camera. There is another 2 MP secondary camera on the device.
The available colors for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 are: white, midnight black, garnet red and gold brown, while the Galaxy Note 10.1 comes in only two simple colors: white and black.
You can use the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 to talk 40 hours with your friends on 3G, or to listen to music for 140 hours, because the device comes with a non-removable Li-Po 6,800 mAh battery that allows you to do this. The Galaxy Note 10.1’s battery is a non-removable Li-Po with a capacity of 8,220 mAh, which allows you talk 9 hours longer with your friends on 3G, but if you want to listen to music, the battery lasts only 98 hours.
