The future success of the flagship models from Samsung has also prompted the company to take advantage in the segment just below it.
This has been followed by the huge success of the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini. Trying to replicate the success, the company came out with the Galaxy S4 Mini several months ago. This device works on the philosophy of featuring a smaller screen than the flagship model. It is exactly opposite to the philosophy of the Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 which tries to offer flagship like screen size at a much lower cost.
The Galaxy S4 Mini is a smaller version of the flagship model. Hence, it features necessary changes in order to demote it. This primarily has been achieved by reducing the screen size to 4.3 inches compared to the 5 inch display on the Galaxy S4. The Galaxy Grand 2, on the other hand, features a 5.25 inch display just like its predecessor. One of the main problems faced by the Galaxy Grand was the lack of proper resolution to go with the large display.
The aspect has been corrected in the Galaxy Grand 2, which now comes with a 720p resolution support. This may not be offered in the Galaxy S4 Mini, but the overall pixel density figures are roughly the same. In short, the Galaxy S4 Mini is for customers looking for a smaller phone but with a large number of features. The Galaxy Grand 2 is for those looking for a large phone that may sacrifice some of the top features.
A major sacrifice in the Galaxy Grand 2 should have come in the camera department, but Samsung has stunned everyone by launching this phone with an eight megapixel unit that is similar to the one found on the Galaxy S4 Mini. It has all the options necessary to capture high-quality pictures and videos. They include image stabilization, stereo sound recording, autofocus, and LED flash. Such features are also available on the Galaxy S4 Mini, although it has a few additions in the form of HDR mode and panorama picture taking ability.
The Galaxy Grand 2 manages to offer performance in the league of high-end smartphones and it is partly made possible by the quad core 1.2 GHz processor. Even though it is a budget smartphone, Samsung has not tried to compromise on the quality. It provides the Galaxy Grand 2 with a snapdragon processor. The Galaxy S4 Mini also comes with a powerful heart, but the dual core 1.7 GHz processor feels slightly underpowered in comparison with the Galaxy Grand 2.
Keeping in mind the enormous 5.25 inch display, Samsung has provided the Galaxy Grand 2 with a very large 2600 mAh battery. Due to its smaller screen, the Galaxy S4 Mini can do just fine with a 1900 mAh battery.
The Galaxy Grand 2 in the unlocked the format retails at a price of $ 300 after having come into the market just now, while the Galaxy S4 Mini is also on the same price.
