Samsung Galaxy Note 2 vs Samsung Galaxy S3 – Price and Specs Comparison

The advantages of the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 are: a huge screen, a long lasting battery and a rounded rectangular aspect, although it looks a lot like its predecessor, the Galaxy Note. The Galaxy S3 has a decent price and lots of cool applications that you’ll find very useful. But we’ll compare both devices to see which one is better for you.

Displays and designs

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has an extremely large display, which is a 5.5 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touch screen that renders a resolution of 720×1280 pixels. Samsung decided to equip the Galaxy S3 with a smaller display, a 4.8 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touch screen that renders the same resolution as the Galaxy Note 2.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 comes with 151.1 x 80.5 x 9.4 mm dimensions and weighs 183 grams. The Galaxy S3 comes with 136.6 x 70.6 x 8.6 mm dimensions and is comparatively lighter, weighing 133 grams.

Hardware and operating systems

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 has 1.6 GHz quad core cortex A9 processor + Exynos 4412 Quad chipset, and three variants of internal memories: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB, the first two ones being expandable by up to 64GB.

On the other hand, the Galaxy S3 has a less powerful processor, which is a 1.4 GHz quad core cortex A9 processor, but the device comes also with the Exynos 4412 Quad chipset. Like the Galaxy Note 2, the Galaxy 3 has three variants of internal memories, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB, the first three ones being also expandable by up to 64 GB.

These are both Android phones; only that the Galaxy Note 2 is running on the Jelly Bean o.s. with 2GB of RAM, while the Galaxy S3 is running on the Ice Cream Sandwich o.s. (upgradeable to the Jelly Bean version) with only 1 GB of RAM.

Cameras

Both phones have an 8 MP primary camera (autofocus + LED flash) and a 1.9 MP secondary camera.

Batteries

You can talk 16 hours on 3G on the Samsung Galaxy Note 2, which is equipped with a Li-Ion 3100 mAh battery. The Galaxy S3’s battery (a Li-Ion 2100 mAh battery) allows you to talk 11 hours and a half on 3G on the phone.

Prices

On amazon.com, you can find the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 N7100 16GB variant at the price of 460 dollars, while the Galaxy S3 16GB variant costs 312 dollars.
