Samsung Galaxy K Zoom Vs Sony Xperia Z2 – Camera Comparison

The high-end smartphones today have grown to such an extent that they have done away with the need for phones catering to an individual segment.

For example, most high-end smartphones are not capable of taking high quality pictures that they have made the digital camera almost redundant. Still, it continues to have a fascination and this is one of the reasons for Samsung announcing the new Samsung Galaxy K Zoom. Sony, meanwhile, has ensured that the flagship Sony Xperia Z2 comes with all the necessary camera features in one little package.

Design

The Galaxy K Zoom will be the replacement for the Galaxy S4 Zoom. It manages to overcome several flaws of the previous generation phone. Firstly, it is much slimmer than the previous generation, while it also prevents the camera portion from bulging out at the back. The camera is visibly obvious on the Galaxy K Zoom, but it is much more integrated than in the previous generations.

The Sony Xperia Z2, though, will take plaudits with a design that does not deviate from the current trend. Further, it will take an extra pair of eyes to come to terms that this is a phone with an excellent camera. This is because Sony has conceded in such a way that it will look like every other high-end smartphone to the naked eye. The only compromise has come in the optical zoom aspect, which is not available in the Xperia Z2.

Megapixel War

The Nokia N8 was one of the first devices to enter into double figures of megapixel count. After a few years of lull, this segment has taken off in spectacular fashion with the Xperia Z2 and the Galaxy K Zoom. Both devices come with a 20-megapixel camera, which can comfortably beat even mid-range digital cameras in terms of detail. Apart from featuring the same megapixel count, the Galaxy K Zoom and the Xperia Z2 also come with the same sensor size of 1/2.3”.

However, the Samsung product is likely to excel in terms of low light photography since it comes equipped with xenon and LED flash. The Xperia Z2 is offered only with the LED flash. There are also several differences between the two phones as far as features are concerned, but that is partly because the Samsung product is fully oriented towards providing the best possible camera experience on a smartphone. The Xperia Z2, meanwhile, is first and foremost smartphone, but it makes sure that it has a top-notch camera.

Video Recording

The video recording element plays a crucial role even in compact digital cameras. Hence, it is not surprising to see the Galaxy K Zoom and Xperia Z2 excel. The Galaxy K Zoom tries to get the advantage through the ability to record full HD videos at 60 frames per second. These videos can then be slowed down to produce incredible slow motion effects. However, it does not come with the latest generation video recording features like 4K.

This will be the standout feature in the Xperia Z2. Apart from being able to record videos at 60 frames per second, this also offers the ability to record 4K videos. It also comes with video stabilization technologies.

Optical Zoom

This is definitely a standout aspect of the Galaxy K Zoom, which provides up to 10 X optical zoom. The Xperia Z2 has to do only with digital zoom, which is present in every other smartphone. Samsung also provides optical image stabilization, while also providing a ‘Pro’ feature that will suggest different settings depending upon the subject focused.
