The iPad Mini 2 is a great tablet which unfortunately still costs a lot of money, but its price is justified. On the other hand, the Nexus 7 2013 might b small, but it’s very powerful and comes with a long lasting battery. But we’ll compare both tablets to see which one is better.
Displays and designs
The iPad Mini 2 has a 7.9 inch LED-backlit IPS LCD capacitive touch screen, with a resolution of 1536×2048 pixels. As we mentioned in the introduction, the Nexus 7 has a small display, which is a 7 inch LED-backlit IPS LCD capacitive touch screen, and has a resolution of 1200×1920 pixels.
The iPad Mini 2 weights 331 grams and it measures 200×134.7×7.5 mm, while the Nexus 7 is weighting only 209 grams, although it has these dimensions: 200x114x8.7 mm.
Hardware and operating systems
The iPad Mini 2 has a 1.3 GHz dual core cyclone processor + Apple A7 chipset, and four variants of internal memories: 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB, which can’t be expanded.
The Nexus 7 is very powerful, having a 1.5 GHz quad core krait processor + Qualcomm Snapdragon S4Pro chipset, but it has only two variants of internal memories, 16 GB and 32 GB, also unexpandable.
The iPad Mini 2 is running on the iOS 7 o.s. with 1 GB of RAM, while the Nexus 7 is an Android running on the Jelly Bean o.s. (upgradeable to the KitKat version), with 2 GB of RAM.
Cameras
Both tablets have a 5 MP primary camera (like auto focus + face detection + geo tagging + touch focus), and a 1.2 MP secondary camera.
Batteries
The iPad Mini 2 is equipped with a non-removable Li-Po battery that lasts 10 hours, while the Nexus 7’s battery (a non-removable Li-Ion 3950 mAh battery) lasts 9 hours.
Prices
On amazon.com, the Apple iPad Mini 2 (with Retina Display) 16 GB variant costs 386 dollars, the 32 GB variant = 480 dollars, the 64 GB variant = 650 dollars and the 128 Gb variant costs 756 dollars. The Google Nexus 7 2 16 GB variant can be bought the price of 196 dollars, while the 32 GB variant costs 229 dollars.
