Moto G vs Moto X2 – Specifications and Pricing Comparison

It has been less than 12 months since the launch of the Moto X, but it appears that the device is already set to be replaced by the Moto X2 if rumors are to be believed.

This device will be competing alongside the Moto G – one of the smartphones recently launched by the company. The Moto G is the latest of the two and it is expected to carry on for the next few months. The newest kid on the block could be the Moto X2, which will make some significant changes.

Design

Moto G may not be the thinnest phone on the market, but it is one of the lightest at 143 g. For its price, this phone offers unbelievable design and premium quality. The same applies for the Moto X and it is unlikely to change in the Moto X2 as well. Pictures of this device have been leaking for the last few months, but it is still not known whether it would be the actual product. Motorola is expected to launch the device in the next few weeks. The Moto X was slightly thinner than the Moto G at 10.6 mm. The upcoming device could increase the difference.

Biggest Change

The major disappointment, as far as features are concerned, with the Moto X has to be the screen, which may be a very large 4.7 inch display, but it only offers a 720p resolution. This is believed to be the primary reason behind Motorola coming up with the second-generation pretty quickly. Not only is the screen going to be increased to 5 inches or above, but the full HD resolution will also be offered as part of it. Both devices come with the Corning Gorilla Glass 3, which offers incredible protection to the screen.

Processor

In terms of benchmark tests, the Moto G is one of the fastest phones available today due to its 1.2 GHz quad core processor. The phone also has a healthy 1 GB of RAM at its disposal to offer a good multitasking experience. On the other hand, the Moto X trails significantly due to the dual core 1.7 GHz processor. This is expected to be upgraded to a new quad core 2.3 GHz processor on the Moto X2. Even though the Moto X was not great in terms of processing speed, it provided 2 GB of RAM to handle multitasking even better. This feature is unlikely to be bumped out since even the flagship models from Samsung and HTC feature the same amount of RAM.

Camera

Nowadays, this is a crucial aspect of any smartphone and the Moto G provides the user with a decent five megapixel camera. The Moto X, on the other hand, provided a 10 megapixel camera, which is rumored to be increased to a 12 megapixel unit. One of the small disadvantages for the Moto G in this regard comes in its ability to support only 720p HD video recording.

The Moto G is priced at $ 200 while the Moto X2 should be slightly more than the $ 345 price of the Moto X.
