Minecraft PS4 Will Have Larger Worlds on Release Date

Given the higher processing power of the next gen platform, it was assumed that the game might have larger world sizes with more space to explore.

Until now, there was no official confirmation. Revealing the information, Mojang in their blog has confirmed that Minecraft PS4 will indeed feature larger maps. However, he didn’t confirm how large they actually could be because there are games like Skyrim and Far Cry where players can hardly reach the end. Putting an end to this speculation, the representative later added that the map size will be on par with the PC version of the game. Ever since its launch, the PC Minecraft version has always been ahead because of its raw processing power but things are about to change in this new generation of consoles.

PC-Like Worlds Promised

PS4 is extremely powerful in terms of rendering antialiasing, filtering besides delivering all titles in 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second. If the claims are something to go by, then it is going to be a time when all the platforms will merge into one and deliver a high quality gaming experience. While it is good news that the game is evolving with larger maps to explore, it poses difficulty when it comes to supporting save transfers from PS3 to Playstation 4 console. Mojang earlier confirmed that they are actually working to bring the feature to the platform and successfully allow players to keep all their creations without having to leave them on the older console.

Merging PS3 Maps with PS4

According to the statement made by their representatives, Minecraft PS4 will most probably get the feature to be able to adopt new maps. The game will most probably port the save files and will populate the empty areas of the larger maps with predefined content. This idea could possibly allow Mojang to achieve what they proposed but they are yet to make an official statement on this. Some players had the question whether it will be an infinite map area to explore but the speculation has been put to rest after the rep confirmed it will only be the size of the PC maps. There is no confirmed release date for the Playstation 4 version of the game except for the statement Mojang made claiming that it could be anytime in the second quarter or third quarter of 2014.

That’s a lot of days to look forward to but some online retailers have already started listing the game. It is scheduled to get released in a retail edition as well and a PS Vita version for people who love to game on the go. Minecraft pocket edition witnessed huge support from players on the smartphones and tablets because of which Mojang believes that there is still scope for Vita version to reach the masses. There could be plenty of new features for Minecraft PS4 but because of the release date delays, the developers didn’t speak much about it so far and they are expected to reveal more stuff only when an announcement comes close.
