The G3 is the successor of the G2 and it was just released on the market two days ago (May 27), receiving only good reviews. The phone’s features have been improved substantially, and you’ll notice the differences between LG’s latest smartphone and its predecessor.
Designs and Displays
The LG 2 came with a 5.2 inch screen that supports a resolution of 1,080×1,920 pixels and a pixel density of only 423 ppi, while the G3 has a 5.5 inches IPS LCD screen that supports a resolution of 1,440×2,560 pixels and a higher pixel density of 538 ppi.
Both phones have a thickness of 0.35 inches, but the LG 3 is heavier, weighting 149 grams, while the G2 is weighting 6 grams less. The G2’s carcass is of plastic, coming in four shades: white, black, red and gold, while the G3 comes with a metal body with five shades: white, black, red, blue and gold. Plus, the G3’s back panel is removable.
Operating Systems and Hardware
The LG G3 has a 2.5 GHz quad-core Krait (Qualcomm Snapdragon 801) processor, it runs on the Android v4.4.2 KitKat OS with 2 GB of RAM (for the 16 GB of internal memory) or 3 GB of RAM (for the 32 GB of internal memory).
The LG G2 has a 2.2 GHz quad-core Krait 400 (Qualcomm Snapdragon 800) processor, it runs like the G3 on the Android v4.4.2 KitKat OS with 2 GB of RAM, but it uses an older version of Optimus UI.
Both phones have two variants of internal storage – 16 GB or 32 GB, but only the G3 has a microSD slot to expand its storage by up to 128 GB.
Cameras
Both phones have a primary camera of 13 MP with similar features, only that the G3 has dual-LED flash, while the G2 has regular LED Flash. Both phones have also a 2.1 MP secondary camera.
Plus, the G3’s camera has features like: “’Selfie”, “’Laser Autofocus Sensor” – it can focus in 0.276 seconds; optical image stabilization, HDR, geo tagging, face detection, can record simultaneously vides and pictures, and can shoot 4K.
Batteries
Both phones have batteries with a capacity of 3000mAh, but theG3’s battery is replaceable and has wireless charging built-in.
Prices
A refurbished LG G2 16 GB with 4G LTE on amazon.com costs 400 dollars, but an official price for the G3 hasn’t been set yet.
