iPhone 5S vs Samsung Galaxy S4 – Specs, Features and Price Comparison

Two of the biggest rivals on the mobile market today are the iPhone 5S and the Samsung Galaxy S4.

Each having its selling point and both being high end smart devices for their operating systems, it is no wonder that a choice between the two is difficult to make. However, we decided to compare the two smartphones in a head to head battle and come up with a final decision having in mind their specifications to price ratio.

Design

When it comes to design, there is visible difference between the two smartphones. Although both the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Apple iPhone 5S are of perfect built quality, the iPhone 5S stands out with its stylish visual appeal. Moreover, its dimensions of 4.87 by 2.31 by 0.30 inches make it easier to use with one hand, whereas the Galaxy S4 is tough to get used to with its size of 5.38 by 2.75 by 0.31 inches.

Specifications

Even though the benchmark results are pretty straight forward, with the Samsung Galaxy S4 beating the Apple iPhone 5S in almost every criteria, the overall mobile experience on both smart devices is quite satisfactory. While the Galaxy S4 has a 1.9 MHz quad core processor and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset that are backed up by 2 GB of RAM, the iPhone 5S features a 64-bit Apple A7 chipset with a Dual Core processor and 1GB of RAM. Comparing different high-end mobile games that are available on both the iOS and Android also results in similar outcome between the two smartphones.

Display

The display of the Apple iPhone 5S is 4.0 inches in size, quite smaller than the 5.0 inch Super AMOLED, one seen on the Samsung Galaxy S4. Even though the multimedia experience is quite decent, the difference in the displays is significant with the clear winner being the Galaxy S4, because of its high pixel density of 441 ppi, whereas the iPhone 5S has a density of about 326 ppi.

Camera

The photo and video quality offered by the 8 MP camera featured on the Apple iPhone 5S is pretty similar to the one offered by the 13 MP one on the Samsung Galaxy S4. Even though there is a noticeable difference in the megapixel size, the various features that back up the cameras let the smartphones offer good enough quality that is perfect for any photography or video recording enthusiast.

Battery Life

One of the huge setbacks in all of Apple smartphones is the poor battery life. Even though it is enhanced in the Apple iPhone 5S, which holds up to 10 hours of talk time and about 10 days in standby mode, the battery life of the smartphone is not good enough compared to Samsung Galaxy S4. The Galaxy smart device holds up to 17 hours of talktime and up to 15 days in standby mode.

Final Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is a clear winner when it comes to display and battery life. However, the Apple iPhone 5S is perfect enough in its design and has powerful specifications that let it be a great rival to the Galaxy smartphone. At the end of the day, the choice between the two devices lies in whether a person prefers the iOS or Andoird mobile operating systems, as both smartphones are perfect competitors in their own category.
