How Can You Speed up Your Chrome Browser on Android

One of the most used browsers on Android devices is Google Chrome which gets more than 45% when it’s compared to other browsers such as Firefox or Opera. Despite its popularity, Google Chrome can be sometimes very slow and here are a few ways to speed it up by changing its “memory allocation”.

Here are a few steps on how to do that:

1.   Open a new Chrome browser tab.

2.   In the address bar type “chrome://flags/#max-tiles-for-interest-area”

3.   A menu box will pop out. Change it from 128 to 512. Remember if you have an older Android device, you should put 256. A user can allocate up to 512 MB on the Chrome browser, so even if you have a more powerful Android device, that’s the maximum limit.

4.   After that, “restart” your Chrome browser by tapping “Relaunch”. You will notice that your browser will run faster.

Keep in mind that by doing this, your Chrome browser will increase its RAM usage, so first make an idea on how much RAM you can afford for Chrome to use.

Other tweaks

1.   A way to change the look of your Chrome browser tabs is by doing the “chrome://flags/#enable-new-ntp” command. Your browser will look simpler with only the required widgets.

2.  If you want to access web pages in “offline” mode, you just need to type the command “chrome://flags/#enable-offline-mode”. This command will store in cache all the pages you access while using the internet, which can be seen later in offline mode.
