GTA 5 – 3 Reasons Why Next Gen Release Date Is Imminent

When you make a new game, especially a sequel to one of the most popular series of all time, a variety of marketing factors should be taken into consideration.

Rockstar as a company relies solely on Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption titles to stay ahead in the market which is why they decided to go with only PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. Even though PC is another prominent platform to take notice of, the company has been allergic to PC gamers for a long time now. Some claim that it is because of the piracy issues but as a matter of fact, no one will pay them money to keep exclusive on the platform. On the other hand, Microsoft and Sony were more than willing to pay a hefty amount to keep it on their consoles. Speculation was high last year when the game was released but was later smothered due to unsaid reasons. It is a habit among console publishers to keep things exclusive so as to generate sales and make good money on every possible title. The claim was recently proved by Titanfall which was kept exclusive for no reason but only to push Xbox One sales. It did prove positive to a certain extent.

Revenue

Keeping it exclusive to an older generation console definitely paid off to both Microsoft and Sony. Some rumors even claim that both companies paid over two hundred fifty million dollars to Rockstar to stop GTA 5 from landing on other platforms. Even though Xbox One and PS4 are owned by the above said companies, they may not make enough revenue on a newly released platform. Whereas the user base is established in millions in the Xbox 360 and PS3 consoles which generated a solid 1 billion in revenue for the developers. When gamers were informed that the title will never make to any other platform, they were forced to buy it, no matter what. After having earned what they were planning to, it is evident that the companies are now ready to push it to the next gen consoles in late 2014 or early 2015.

Retailer Listings

If you have been following the news regularly, you will know that GTA 5 retailer listings are common these days with multiple release dates being specified. While no retailer is clear about an actual date, all of them have been receiving information about potential launches. Based on these frequent listings which denote a fall 2014 or early 2015 dates, you can be sure that the game is definitely coming to next gen consoles as well as PC. The latest news is that the PC will receive the title in March 2015 while Xbox One and PS4 are scheduled to get it in the month of July next year.

Publisher’s Note

Rockstar could have simply denied the existence of a next gen version but as the original publisher did not accept or deny such an existence, it is a proof that GTA 5 is for the new consoles and it is coming eventually.
