New links open in separate tabs. Google Chrome gives you everything you need: bookmarks, favorites, tools, etc. If you are not yet familiar with Google Chrome, it’s time to get acquainted with it.

Execute Processes Easily with Chrome

Unlike the Internet Explorer or Firefox, Google Chrome is an easy-to-use and simplified web browser. It is fast, compact, and convenient. Google Chrome allows you to search using its address bar. Either by typing words or URL, you can have a drop down box filled with search suggestions. Also, possible website matches will be presented to expedite your search. Moreover, Google Chrome keeps tabs on your most-visited pages. If you regularly visit the same websites, Google Chrome is able take you to those pages even without the use of bookmark toolbars.

Changing your homepage on Google Chrome is also easy. Just go to the top tab of your Google Chrome page and look for the wrench icon. Click on the icon and scroll to the bottom to find the internet options. On the options box, you can type or paste the URL of the home page you would like to have.

Project Naptha

But one of the latest tricks Google Chrome allows users to do is to copy or delete text from images in their newly released Project Naptha. Normally those texts embedded in the Web images cannot be tinkered or altered in any way. But Chrome has just made the impossible doable.

Let’s Get to Know Naptha More

Project Naptha is a computerized process in which the texts integrated within the web images are removed or modified. It is an editing process in which you are able to highlight, copy, paste, or translate the text.

What is remarkable about Project Naptha is that these texts created by document scans or photographs can also be accessible. You can use your cursor to drag a few lines. Copy the highlighted text. Paste it either on a Word document or an email, and then edit it.

The technology behind project Naptha is not new. Microsoft OneNote, Google Drive, and Google Street View use optical character recognition (OCR) to identify text within images. Project Naptha, however, uses a method called Stroke Width Transform (SWT) that was developed by Microsoft Research.

How to Use It

With Project Naptha, selecting text is as easy as a piece of cake. Move your cursor to the text you would like to modify. Highlight it. Right click on the extension menu, and then copy it.

You can also erase the text. To modify the original text, go to “Translate > Reprint text”, and click on it. Then a new “Modify Text” option will appear in the menu. You can even translate it by using the Translate option into various languages.

To modify text in your own computer’s images, open the “Chrome://extensions” in your browser and click on the “Allow access to file URLs” box under Project Naptha. After that, simply drag your chosen picture into Chrome and start tinkering.

The edited text, however, may leave a trace of the original pictures, or the modified text might look crude. Hyperlinked texts can’t be edited, however. But the kind of freedom and experience the project offers is magical.
