Displays and designs
The iPad 4 has a large display, which is a 9.7 inch LED-backlit IPS LCD capacitive touch screen, having a resolution of 1536×2048 pixels. The iPad Mini has a 7.9 inch LED-backlit IPS LCD capacitive touch screen, with a resolution of 768×1024 pixels.
The iPad 4 weights 652 grams and measures: 241.2×185.7×9.4 mm, while the iPad Mini is weighting more than half of the iPad 4’s weight, only 308 grams, but it’s a lot smaller too, measuring: 200×134.7×7.2 mm.
Hardware and operating systems
The iPad 4 has a 1.4 GHz dual core processor + Apple A6X chipset and there are four variants of internal memories: 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB, but the device doesn’t allow you to add extra Micro SD cards.
The iPad Mini has the same “problem”, only that it has three variants of internal memories: 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB. This tablet has a 1 GHz dual core cortex A9 processor + Apple A5 chipset.
These tablets run on the same operating system, iOS 6, upgradeable to the iOS 7 version. The iPad 4 is equipped with 1 GB of RAM, while the iPad Mini has only 512 MB of RAM.
Both tablets have a 5 MP primary camera (autofocus, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection) and a 1.2 MP secondary camera.
The iPad 4 has an internal battery – 42.5 Wh Li-Po 11,560 mAh, while the iPad mini has also an internal battery, 16.3 Wh Li-Po.
On amazon.com, the iPad 4 16 GB variant costs 414 dollars, the 32 GB variant = 479 dollars, the 64 GB variant = 519 dollars and the 128 GB = 580 dollars. The iPad Mini 16 GB costs 292 dollars, the 32 GB variant = 339 dollars and the 64 GB variant = 389 dollars.
