The company has always created excitement in smartphone users by offering a wide range of mobile devices under the Galaxy flagship. The Galaxy Grand 2 is a recent release (January 2014) having a dual SIM feature. The Duos 2 range of smartphones is particularly popular with people who use two SIMs. Let’s compare these two dual SIM phones and know the features they have.
Design
Since both phones are from the same manufacturer, there is no considerable difference in the overall look of both phones. The Grand 2 is a bigger phone and its external dimensions are 146.8 mm (Height) x 75.3 (Wide) while the external dimensions of Duos 2 are 121.5 mm (Height) x 63.1 mm (Wide). The Grand 2 is slimmer at 8.9 mm while the thickness of Duos 2 is 10.6 mm. Duos 2 is lighter than Grand 2 by approx 45 grams. The weight of Duos 2 is 118 grams while that of Grand 2 is 163 grams.
Screen
Despite it being recently released, the Grand 2 display is not much different from Duos 2 display. Both phones feature a capacitive TFT display having capability to render 16 million colors. The Grand 2 has a 5.25 inch screen while Duos 2 has a 4-inch screen. With 223 pixels-per-inch, the resolution of Duos 2 is quite low at 480-by- 800 pixels. The resolution of Grand 2 display is 720-by-1280 pixels while the screen has 280 pixels-per-inch.
Camera
The Grand 2 and Duos 2 have two cameras which includes a rear camera with higher resolution and lower resolution camera at the front of the device. Grand 2 features an 8 megapixel camera, whereas the Duos 2 has a 5 megapixel camera. Duos 2 has a VGA camera in the front while Grand 2 has a 1.9 megapixel camera at the front. Grand 2 has better photography enhancement features like Geo tagging, smile and face detection, tap focus, and image stabilization while Duos 2 only features Geo tagging. The camcorder in Grand can record high definition videos at a rate of 30 frames per second while Duos 2 can only record 720 pixels resolution videos at a rate of 30 frames per second.
Performance
Grand 2 has a better hardware configuration than Duos 2. It is equipped with a Snapdragon 400 chipset from Qualcomm with Cortex A7 CPU and Adreno 305 GPU. The clock speed of a quad core processor fitted in Grand 2 is 1.2 GHz. Duos 2 has a dual core processor with 1.2 GHz clock speed. Grand 2 has almost twice the RAM and internal storage space than Duos 2. Duos 2 is equipped with 768 MB RAM and 4GB internal storage space while Grand 2 has 1.5GB RAM and 8GB internal storage space. Both phones have an external memory card slot that can be used to extend memory up to 64GB.
Battery
Grand 2 has a bigger battery rated at 2600 mAh that provides a talktime of 17 hours on 3G networks. Duos 2 is equipped with a battery rated at 1500 mAh which provides talk time of 8 hours on 3G networks.

The price of Grand 2 is around $400 while the price of Duos 2 is around $151.99.
