Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 vs Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 – Specifications and Pricing Compared

After the recent launch of the iPad Air, the competition in the tablet PC segment has been questioned significantly.

Apple could eventually run away without a lack of competition for this brilliant device. Samsung has finally woken up to the challenge by launching the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1. These ‘Pro’ models are not only decided to take on the iPad directly, but possibly set a new benchmark in the segment as well.

Design

One of the talking points of the iPad Air has been the thinness and the low weight of the device. Matching it was always going to be tough, but Samsung appeared to have done it with both these devices. It has to be remembered that the iPad has only a 9.7 inch display. It is easily bettered by both the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 and Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1. The former comes with a 12.2 inch display, while the latter uses a 10.1 inch display.

Despite the differences in terms of size, both products are using the same resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels. Hence, the user will be able to effectively get a better quality display on the 10.1 inch screen with its slightly better pixel density. The 12.2 inch display though offers a large display to take advantage of the multimedia powerhouse resting within the hardware.

Performance Hardware

The Pro line-up models come with the best of ingredients to provide a lot of performance despite running the latest Android operating system. This is true in the case of the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 and Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1. They both come with a very powerful quad core 1.9 GHz processor. This uses the Exynos chipset and Mali GPU to handle the android 4.4 KitKat operating system. The presence of 2 GB of RAM in the Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 is overtaken by the 3 GB present in the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2.

This difference is likely to make the latter be more superior when it comes to multitasking.

Similar Camera

Samsung has decided to offer both products with a similar camera, which is rated at eight megapixels. This is one of the better cameras found on a tablet PC thanks to the megapixel count and a whole host of features. They make the task of taking a picture very easy indeed. The features include auto focus, LED flash, and full HD video recording. There is also a front facing two megapixel unit, which means much better video conferencing capabilities.

These are one of the few devices out there capable of challenging the iPad in terms of video conferencing quality.

The Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 is slightly better in terms of multimedia due to the presence of up to 64 GB of internal memory, while the Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 offers a maximum of 32 GB. Both, however, support additional memory cards of up to 32 GB.

The base 16 GB version of the Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 costs around $ 450, while the base 32 GB version of the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 costs $ 600.
