Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S5 Specs, Price: Which You Should Buy?

With the launch of Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung has continued its dominance over the global Smartphone market.

Traditionally, people had to compare Smartphones from different brands but with the launch of Galaxy S5, the market has changed. Most people are now finding themselves confused between Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and S5. Since these two are high end phones, it is not possible to purchase both because of the cost limitation and thus, the need to choose between them. Choosing between them is not straight forward because they have much in common but with different variations.

Build

The new Samsung Galaxy S5 is made of plastic cover with a perforated back that gives it a unique design. The perforated back offers a comfortable grip. Its 142 x 72.5 x 8.1mm size enables it to sit comfortably in the hand while its 145g weight is very comfortable to hold. The S5 is also dust and water resistant.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has a similar plastic construction but with a different look thanks to its faux-leather back. Its 151.2 x 79.2 x 8.3mm size and 168g makes it little bigger and heavier than s5. It is also important to note that Note 3 is not dust and water resistant. Display

The Galaxy S5 has a big, bright and colorful 5.1 inch screen with 1080 x 1920 Super AMOLED display and 432 pixel density per inch. The Note 3 has a bigger 5.7 inch screen with 1080 x 1920 Super AMOLED display and 386 pixel density per inch. On display, there is no ultimate winner and thus, it depends on what you prefer between size and pixels per density.

Performance

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is powered by a 2.5 GHz quad-core 801 processor with a 2GB RAM while the Note 3 is powered by a 2.3 GHz quad-core 800 processor with 3GB RAM. There is little between S5 and Note 3 on performance and the choice is on a faster newer processor or an extra gigabyte of RAM.

Camera

Both have dual cameras with the front camera having the same capability of 2 megapixels but the back cameras have distinctive abilities. The Note 3 has a 13 megapixel back camera that can shoot videos at 2160p video at 30ftps or 1080p video at 60ftps. The Galaxy S5 has a 16 megapixel primary camera that can shoot videos at the same parameters with the Note 3 but the additional megapixels for S5 make the difference.

Battery Life, Memory and Connectivity

The Galaxy S5 is powered by a 2800mAh battery that can last up to 390 hours on standby time or 21 hours talk time while the Note 3 is powered by a bigger 3200mAh battery with 21 hours talk time and 420 hours on standby.

On memory, the S5 comes with choices of 16 and 32 in-built memories and a microSD card slot that supports up to 128GB while Note 3 comes in three options of 16, 32 and 64GB in-built memories and an external card that can support up to 64GB.

On connectivity, both handsets support 3G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, NFC, Infrared and Bluetooth 4.0.

Conclusion

Comparison on Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs Galaxy S5 does not give an ultimate winner and the decision can be made based on personal preferences but S5 is slightly powerful and better.
