Price

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 2014 version was released in February, 2014 and is priced at approximately $399.99, whereas the Tab pro 10.1 inches 2014 is priced at $499.99 approximately.

The 10.1 2014 edition is an excellent tablet in the high range, though it is priced high considering that it is an Android tablet.

Screen and Display

Both the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1, 2014 edition are tablets that run on Android, with the Tab Pro 8.4 running Android 4.4 and the Tab Pro 10.1 running Android 4.3 with TouchWiz UI. While comparing the dimensions of both the tablets, the Tab Pro 10.1 is naturally bigger with dimensions 9.57 x 6.75 x 0.31 inches, as against the Tab Pro 8.4, whose dimensions are 8.62 x 5.06 x 0.28 inches. The Tab Pro 10.1 also weighs more at 547 g, whereas the Tab Pro 8.4 weighs 336 g. The display size of the Tab Pro 8.4 is i.4 inches and that of the Tab Pro 10.1 is 10.1 inches. Both the tablets, however, have the same resolution at 2560 x 1600 p, but the Tab Pro 8.4, having a smaller screen size, has a higher pixel density of 359 ppi, when compared to the 299ppi of the 10.1 inches tablet.

Camera

Super Clear LCD technology has been used in both the devices. Both the tablets have an 8 MP camera with LED Flash and other features like white balance presets, Geo tagging, ISO Control, Autofocus and Digital zoom. The Tab Pro 10.1 inches also has some other additional attractive features, such as Face detection and Smile Detection as well as exposure compensation, along with Burst mode, Panorama and Scenes, with Self timer. Both the tablets have a front facing camera of 2 MP. They both are run on the same system chip of Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 MSM8974 and have the same processor and graphics processor of Adreno 330. However, the Tab Pro 10.1 inches comes with a bigger system memory of 3072 MB of RAM compared to the 2048 MB of RAM found in the 8.4 inches device. The built in storage of both are 16 GB, which can be expanded to 64 GB with the use of a micro SD card.

Battery

The battery capacity of the 10.1 inches device is almost double at 8220 mAh with Li Ion battery, whereas that of the 8.4 inches device is only 4800 mAh. Both the phones offer Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity as well as Wi-Fi connectivity at 802.11 a, b, g, n and ac, with the 10.1 inches version offering 5 GHz connectivity as well.

Verdict

The 8.4 inches version has a high pixel density with ppi of 359. However, the 10.1 inches version scores with the HDMI connector that can be used for TV out. Both the devices have a high-resolution camera and run on Quad core processors and also offer plenty of RAM and offer quick support for mobile data. The 10.1 inches version, in addition, offers features of video calling. In addition, the 10.1 inches 2014 version also has an infrared transmitter, which can convert the tablet into a remote control for your television or your set to box. The 10.1 inches version offers high-end design, but it is quite heavy. It has a crisp display. The 10.1 inches 2014 edition is on par with other rivals and is as fast as any other Android tablet that you can get now, offering great responsiveness and feel, without any lag or freezing of menus while typing.
