Samsung Tablets have enjoyed a smooth ride in the market since the first release.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 was the first to entice the users with its seductive features and high performance metrics. The tablet did so well that the later release of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 was received with positive anticipation. It was already presumed that if the Galaxy Tab 3 did so well, a later release can only be an improvement on the earlier model.

Differences between the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 and Tab 3

The Screen Size

The screen size is, perhaps, one of the most conspicuous features, of the possible distinctions between the two tablets. As you would rightly guess, the earlier tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 features a slightly smaller screen compared to the later version, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3. Tab 2 features a 7 inch screen while Tab 3 sports a handsome 8 inch screen. Inevitably, Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 was enhanced with performance capacity, with more pixels and higher display resolution. Tab two features equally impressive display properties at 1024×600 and 170 ppi. Yet Tab 3 seems to give you a glimpse into the other side of the horizon with an 189ppi and 1280×800 resolution properties.

Processor Properties of the Tablets

The design properties of the two tabs have been optimized to match the internal performance mechanics. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 comes with a 1.5 GHz dual core processing speed plus a 1.5 GB RAM. It has been proven to possess effective processing power for multiple tasks including effective gaming capacity. It is equipped with a Mali 400 GPU.

Tab 2 is not far off though. It comes with a 1GB RAM, a power VR graphics and an OMAP processor. It is also fitted with the Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS. The better news, however, is that the device can be upgraded to a more versatile and powerful Jelly Bean OS. The latter feature is also available for the Tab 3 model.

The Camera

Whereas the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 features a 3.15 mega pixel camera, the new model comes with a whooping 5 megapixel cam. The new version has also responded to the latest trends in video chatting and comes with a secondary camera to support the functionality. The device is powered with a 4000 mAh battery capacity. There is a similarity in the storage capacities of the two devices. They both support extended microSD storage properties. They come with unique internal storage capacities depending on the version at hand. Each model offers a variance of between 16GB and 32 GB in their internal storage capacities. The MicroSD extension storage however provides up to 64 GB of storage space.

The Prices Compared

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 sells at $250 for the 16 gigabyte version while Tab 2 costs $200 for the 8GB built-in storage space version. Consequently, it turns out that your choice of the Tab model will be determined by either the performance specifications or the internal storage capacity.
