Both the Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and the S3 are smartphones from Samsung, working on Android.
The S4 Mini is powered by Android 4.2.2 TouchWiz, whereas the S3 is powered by Android 4.3; 4.1.2; 4.1.1; 4.0.4 Touch Wiz. The display screen of the S4 Mini is 4.3 inches compared to the S3, which is slightly bigger at 4.8 inches. The S4 Mini has a bigger system memory of 1536 MB RAM, whereas the S3 has a memory of 1024 MB RAM. The S4 Mini is available with a built in storage of 8 GB, whereas the S3 has storage of 32 GB. Storage in both the devices, however, is expandable to 64 GB with microSD card. As for battery capacity, the S4 Mini has a capacity of 1900 mAh, whereas the S3 has a slightly higher capacity at 2100 mAh.
S3 – Blazing Quick
The S3 is still very much in demand with great specs. The phone has a super AMOLED screen and has a 1 GB of RAM. The device was initially launched with the Android Ice Cream Sandwich and later received the Android Jelly Bean updates, so that it became more attractive. It is a slim phone that measures 70.6 x 8.6 x 136.6 mm and weighs 133 grams. Apart from a rear camera of 8 MP and an LED flash, it also has a front camera of 1.9 MP.
S4 Mini – A Mini Version
You can call it a toned down version of the S4. Some of the features have been brought down, as the screen is a little smaller at 4.27 inches and the resolution is also lesser. However, it is very portable and weighs just 108 grams, running on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean version It has a rear camera of 8 MP and comes with LED flash and autofocus specs, along with a front camera of 1.9 MP.
Verdict
When comparing the two phones, the S3 and the S4 Mine, the Samsung Galaxy S3 clearly comes out as the winner. Both the devices come in the same price bracket. At a slightly lower price, the S3 has a better screen and also battery battery capacity along with increased on board memory. The S3 has the advantage of a larger display and a higher resolution as well. However, both the devices have the super AMOLED, so they both offer vibrant colors and high contrasts along with large viewing angles. Many users might prefer a bigger display, as it gives a better user experience for playing games, or for watching videos and also for regular browsing of the Internet. There may not be much difference when merely viewing the screen size numbers, but the difference is very visible when you keep both the devices side by side.
However, if the price of the S4 Mini is dropped to a lower level, it could be a good bargain. Strategic pricing for the S4 Mini can play a big role in swaying the balance, as there is no device between the Galaxy Grand and the S3 at present. If you are looking for a phone with a better resolution and a bigger screen, the S3 is the better option. However, if you are looking for a compact phone that is more portable, the S4 Mini is the just the one for you.
