Samsung Galaxy Note 3 vs Samsung Galaxy Note 4 – Price and Specs Comparison

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is the most eagerly awaited phone following the Note 3.

It is rumored that Note 4 will be released sometime in 2014. Let’s compare the Note 3 with the rumored specifications of the Note 4. The Galaxy Note 3 is surely not a cheap acquisition, at the carrier free price of around $950, so many people might not want to upgrade to the new version, unless the specs are really worth it.

Display and Screen

Smartphones are generally used for entertainment purposes and productivity and it is important to have good quality of display for a great visual experience. The Note 4 is said to be having a 5.9”, which is a solid guess. Since Samsung has always introduced great displays in the Note series, it is also expected that the Note 4 will sport a curved three-dimensional display, which will also be waterproof. The rumor mill also has it that the Note 4 is to be made of plastic, which makes it nearly unbreakable. If it does have the curved display, this will provide an added advantage of being able to read messages even from an angle instead of only directly. In addition, such flexible displays consume lesser amount of power.

Camera and Hardware

Smartphones need to have innovative features with respect to their entertainment or photography specifications. In this regard, the Note 4 will most likely have a camera of 16 to 20 MP. There have been a few media leaks suggesting that Samsung has plans of launching devices with 20 MP and with a resolution of QHD 2560 x 1440 p. This will enable excellent image quality and, if this is true, the Note 4 will be a device offering crystal clear quality as well as a great ppi.

As for the hardware, Samsung Note 4 will surely have the best with Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 Quad Core processor and a RAM of 3GB or probably more. The battery life is also sure to be upgraded, with storage space being expandable to a limit of 128 GB, with internal storage at 32 GB or 64 GB options. The Note 4 will come with Android 4.4.2 KitKat, so this is goodbye to the Jelly Bean in Note 3.

Upgrades in Note 4

Though a lot is not yet known about the Note 4, most of the features of the Note 3 will be upgraded, though the Note 3 is not at all bad in its current form. The iris scanner is one possible change that will be seen in the Note 4. Along with a 16 MP camera, the Note 4 will also have an OIS or optical image stabilization. The AMOLED technology is another surefire feature along with the three-side display.

Price Speculation

The Note 4 is surely not going to come cheap with all these additional upgrades and features. It is a top of the line product considered from all perspectives and Samsung is sure to release additional technologies. Though the price has not been released, it will be more than the Samsung Galaxy S5 and is expected to be around $300 in a two-year contract or $1000 approx, if it is carrier free.

The Note 3 is quite steeply priced and the carrier free price is around $950, depending on the region and the retailer. Yet, it offers top quality technology by any standards, as it was only released in September 2013. By the time the Note 4 is released, there will be certain cuts in the price of the Note 3, with the Note 4 becoming more expensive.

Verdict

Though there is no concrete information, the Note 4 is sure to come with major improvements on the Note 3, so it is not worth investing in the Note 3 at this point. You can get better display, more battery life and improved hardware along with some nifty features in the Note 4, merely for a slightly higher price.
