Nexus 7 vs Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 – Price and Specs Comparison

Form Factor

Nexus 7 is a 7-inch tablet measuring 7.87 (Height) x 4.49 (Width) x 0.34 (Depth) inches. Nexus 7 is available in two models; Wi-Fi and LTE models weighing approximately 290 and 299 grams respectively. The Tab 3 is slightly bigger measuring 8.26 (Height) x 4.87 (Width) x 0.29 (Depth) inches and weighs not more than 314 grams.

Display

The Tab 3 display is approximately 1 inch bigger than the Nexus 7. The multitouch TFT touch screen in Tab 3 measures around 8-inches and has a resolution of 800 by 1280 pixels. The display in Nexus 7 measures around 7.02 inches and has a resolution of 1920 by 1200 pixels. The pixel density of HD display in Nexus 7 is around 323 ppi while the pixel density of Tab 3 touchscreen is 189 ppi. If you look at displays of both devices, you can easily tell that Google has provided a better display which is capable of rendering images and videos in true HD format. Inside the tablet

Both tablets have impressive hardware to handle multitasking. The Tab 3 features a dual core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz and a Mali-400 GPU to manage graphics. The Nexus 7 is equipped with a Snapdragon Pro CPU clocked at 1.5 GHz and Adreno 320 graphics processor with 400 MHz clock speed. Tab 3 and Nexus 7 has 1.5GB RAM and 2GB RAM respectively. Both devices have models offering 16GB and 32GB internal storage space. Only Tab 3 features a microSD slot which can be used to add storage space up to 64 GB.

Camera

The camera is an important feature in tablets and both devices have two cameras; a rear camera and a front camera. Both, Tab 3 and Nexus 7 have a 5-megapixel camera at the rear side of the device. The resolution of Tab 3’s primary camera is 2560 by 1920 pixels, while the resolution of Nexus 7’s primary camera is around 2592 by 1944 pixels. Photography friendly features like autofocus, touch focus, Geo tagging, and face detection are common in both devices. The front camera in both devices is not that dissimilar. The secondary camera in Tab 3 is of 1.3-megapixels while the front camera in Nexus 7 is about 1.2-megapixels.

Battery


The Tab 3 features a battery rated at 4450 mAh, while the Nexus 7 is equipped with a battery rated at 3950 mAh.

Price

The price of Tab 3 differs with each model. The price of Tab 3 16GB Wi-Fi model is around $209.95 while the price of Nexus 7 16 GB Wi-Fi model is around $229. The price of Nexus 7 32 GB WI-Fi and LTE model is around $269 and $349 respectively.
