iPad Mini 2 vs Nexus 7 – Specs and Price Comparison

Models and Dimensions

iPad Mini 2 is available in two different models; Wi-Fi and Cellular + Wi-Fi model. The external dimensions of both models are same but the Cellular + Wi-Fi model weighs slightly more than Wi-Fi model. The Nexus 7 measures 198.5 mm (Height) x 120 mm (Width) and has a thickness of 10.5 mm. The Wi-Fi model weighs 290 grams while the LTE model weighs 299 grams.

Retina Display versus HD Display

iPad Mini 2 features the popular Retina display having a pixel density of 326 ppi. The resolution of the display in iPad Mini 2 is 2048-by-1536 pixels. Nexus 7 features an HD IPS touchscreen having a pixel density of 323 ppi. The resolution of Nexus 7 display is 1920-by-1200 pixels which is lower than Retina display. The display in both devices has a protective covering. The Retina display has an oleophobic coating which protects the display from fingerprint smudges while the Nexus 7 display is protected by Gorilla glass. Apple A7 versus Cortex-A9

iPad Mini 2 is powered by an A7 chip; a dual core processor based on 64-bit architecture. The clock speed of A7 in Mini 2 is 1.3 GHz. The Nexus 7 is equipped with a Cortex-A9 CPU; a quad-core microprocessor with 1.2 GHz clock speed. The processors fitted in these devices are the best in its class and capable of handling multitasking in a better manner.

Graphics Processor

iPad Mini 2 has a motion processor, M7 to manage graphics while the Nexus 7 has graphics processor based on ULP GeForce architecture.

The price of Nexus 7 differs with each model; the lower end 16GB (Wi-Fi) model can be purchased at $229 while the 32GB (Wi-Fi) and 32GB (LTE) models can be purchased online at $269 and $349 respectively.
