(SPRINGFIELD, Mo.) Polling paid for by Michael Wardell’s congressional campaign five days before the election gave State Senator Jack Goodman a 7 point lead ahead of Tuesday’s primary.

Polling released today showing, from just 5 days before the election. (Wardell for Congress)

Wardell’s poll, while placing Goodman ahead, also had 31% undecided, which seems a little unrealistic so close to the election. But by ratios, some generalities can be made.

First: Jack Goodman is winning. That’s really been the feeling on the ground for a few weeks.

Second: Long and Nodler are being hurt by Goodman’s appeal to those looking for “citizen legislators,” having not been term limited in the Missouri legislature, but also providing the “experience” the ‘First-dayers’ are seeking.

Third: This poll, consistant with a lot of the other polling we’ve seen, confirms the tiers of candidates. There are obviously three frontrunners, then the rest.

Fourth: Undecided voters are going to be seeing/hearing the negative ads, definitely putting a negative light on the top three. That could definitely give more votes to some of the second tier candidates, but probably not enough to pull them up into the top three.
